The afternoon sun was beginning to set as a patrol car cruised down the main roads of Coolsville. After coming to a complete stop at a traffic light, the chief officer took a sip of his coffee. He had just left the police station right after meeting with the FBI agent about the case. To his surprise, the agent turned out to be an old friend he hadn't seen in ages.

Reminiscing about his childhood and the fun times he spent with his friend, the chief officer smiled as he was glad of his visit. Once the light turned green, he then made his way over to the Dinkley residence. It had been a few hours since he last checked on Velma. With Daphne looking after her, he felt calm knowing that she was in good hands.

Upon pulling into the driveway, the chief officer downed the last of his coffee before turning off the vehicle. Slowly making his way towards Velma's front door, he checked his phone for any updates about the case that he was on. Noticing that nothing out of the ordinary was reported, he proceeded to knock on her door.

A couple of minutes went by and there was no answer. The chief officer knocked a few more times, certain that Velma and Daphne hadn't left. Looking over his shoulders, he surveyed the area around him to see if anything unusual was happening. He then took a chance and turned the door knob, hoping it was unlocked. On the first try, Velma's front door opened.

Knocking on the door gently as he stepped in, the chief officer glanced around her house to see if everything was alright. Closing the door behind him, he kept one hand on his gun holster as he cautiously walked throughout the house. The officer then noticed a bedroom door slightly ajar. Carefully pushing it open, he braced himself for any surprises...only to see Velma and Daphne asleep under the covers, side by side on the bed.

Quietly exhaling a sigh of relief, the chief officer carefully walked over towards Velma who was closest to him. He gently tapped on her shoulder to see if he could wake her without scaring her. After a couple of attempts, Velma's eyes instantly opened.

Staring at the ceiling at first, Velma's body sat up and her head slowly turned towards the chief officer. Not saying anything, Velma looked up and down at the officer.

"Hey Velma, sorry. I said I would check up on you when I got back." The officer greeted. "I knocked but there was no answer. I just wanted to make sure you and Daphne were okay."

After a few seconds of silence, Velma's eyes shifted back up to the officer's face.

"We are good."

"Glad to know." Said the chief officer, "Oh, by the way...the person I had to meet with was actually an old friend of mine. He goes by Agent Warner now. We've been great buds for years. Harold and I go way back."

There was another awkward pause as Velma had a blank expression on her face. The chief officer felt weirded out as she didn't seem like herself. He would have talked to Daphne but she was still asleep. Trying to prevent a dull conversation, the officer turned his head towards the television. It was still on the news channel that was showing reruns of the Alan Bowman case that he was currently working on.

"He hadn't talked yet, but I have a few guys questioning him now." He said. "I hear once she finishes getting the space station situated, Gwen is planning on reopening it tomorrow morning."

In an instant, Velma's head quickly turned towards the TV as soon as the officer said her name. Gwen was on TV, outside the space center talking to some of the reporters. Daphne's eyes also opened as she heard the name. She too slowly sat up and stared at the television screen. The officer slightly glanced at them as they both were fixated on the TV.

"Is...is everything okay?"

Velma's head turned towards the officer, "Gwen."

"Uh...yeah. Gwen." He muttered. "Is she in any danger of any sort?"
