ii - The Mission

Finally the weekend had come and I had a chance to relax after back to back missions and homework.

WISE had been heavily understaffed for quite a while now and since I had climbed quite high in the organisation since I first started, I had to take up a lot of responsibility.

I had just sit down with my dinner to watch the latest episode of the long running show, Spy Wars, when my phone buzzed with a notification.

It was a message from my boss, Ronald Hermage. I picked up the device and opened the message.

Call the Handler at 3 p.m. Sharp. She will tell you the details of your mission over a private phone call. the message read.

Oh god. Another mission? On a Saturday? What is it this time? I hope I don't need to go undercover again... Last time Anya had to dress up as an old man!

I sighed deeply before checking the time. It was 2 p.m. already. Well at least Anya has an hour to watch Spy Wars.

The T.V. switched on and immediately the news flashed across the screen. I wanted to skip it but what appeared was somewhat concerning.

"Tonight, striking news as the Prime Minister of the West is killed in his home along with his wife. The murderer is not yet caught and details are unknown. Police investigation started early morning on Friday and the information has been kept secret until now."

Wait, the Prime Minister? Just like 10 years ago... Doesn't that mean...

"Yes that's right folks, the war is believed to have started again as a terrorist attack on the City Hall of the West soon followed the Prime Minister's mysterious murder."

Oh no...

The hour passed before I even realised and it was already time to call miss Handler. I dialed the given number and put the phone up to my ear as the dial tone rang. Barely 2 seconds later however Sylvia picked up the call.

"Agent Sunrise." Sylvia greeted shortly.

"Syl- er- Handler."

"Listen closely since this will not be repeated again or messaged to you by any other means. This is your first long mission, or 'Story Mission' as we call it here. In these types of mission you have to go undercover for as long as the mission does not succeed. That could mean days, weeks or possibly years." Handler informed.

Woah. Just like Operation Hanabira that agent Stylist performed! Anya was waiting for her promotion to a Story Mission since forever!

"This mission is a somewhat revival of Operation Strix. The war has once again risen and to prevent it from rising too far is our utmost priority. If the peace ends between the East and West, it could mean the end for both countries. WISE has trailed the hints back to the infamous Donovan Desmond once more and he is your target for this mission." Handler explained.

Yes! Anya gets to be assassin like hahaoya!

"But you will not go barging in on his house like this is a buffoon's mission. You will have to be covert and, obviously, go undercover." said Sylvia cutting off my trail of thought. "Since WISE has been paying for your education at Eden Academy, you will have to carry out this Story Mission from there. Since you already have 6 Stellas, you will have to either gain two more by the end of your education, or once more get close to Damian Desmond, second son of Donovan."

No! Not him! It was impossible to get to him last time! He made Anya cry more times than she can count...

"But this time it will not pass for you to simply be friends with him."

"What do you mean? Do we have to be best friends?" I asked curiously. What else could it possibly be?

"No. Unfortunately you have to be closer. Our intel shows he has not even invited his oldest friends to his home more than once or twice over the course of 10 years. And though this is a Story Mission, we do not have that kind of time. You will have to become his romantic partner." said Handler in a robotic tone.

"Huh?! I have to marry him?!" I asked in a panic. But I wanted to marry Bondman!

"No, not that far. You simply have to become his partner. A girlfriend as the youngsters say. Since you have only 2 years of school remaining and you are not a particularly bright student, I suggest you go with Plan B."

"You're not the one who has to go out with Sy-on boy! Anya will study hard and get her 2 Stellas! I will not kiss the second son!" I huffed.

"It's your mission." Handler shrugged. "The war is progressing much faster than last time so although we will give you a lot of time, your limit cannot exceed to after you graduate."

"Understood ma'am. Is there any chance of Agent Twilight being present in the mission?"I asked hopefully.

"Not yet Sunrise. Sorry."

"Oh...okay..." Anya looked forward to every mission just in hopes of seeing chichi again... but maybe another mission...

"Good luck little Anya." said Sylvia before declining the call. I swear I could see her smile through the screen.

Oh god. Out of all the people in this world it had to be the second son again. And this time instead of just being friends we have to be 'romantic partners' whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

I just hope I survive this mission.
