It was our anniversary when it happened. I had to take Emilie to the beach after a day around the city. Though, since there are no beaches in Paris, we traveled about three hours away from our home. She had always loved the water and I knew the pools didn't satisfy her the same.

That night we were paddle boarding (at her insistence, of course). That night we went out too far. That night I lost my wife, to a small group of half-humans. That night I learned the terrors of merpeople.

Ever since that day, I have been searching for my wife unforgivingly. I gave all the time I could to go out to that same area, I even bought a boat. I wanted- I want to find her, I need to find her. Without her, I am not whole. Without her, I am nothing. I need her back. I miss her so much.

I started to bring Adrien along for the media, telling them I am interested in fishing and that we need a family bonding fishing trip. We went on these outings quite frequently. Three days a week, at the minimum.

So when I came to tell my young son that we should start packing up, only to see the gate open and the swish of a tail, I did everything I could. I can't lose him too.

Unfortunately, the fish got away and my son is most definitely with it. Now everyone is gone, I have no one.

"Sir, where is Adrien?" Nathalie's monotone voice startled me as I stared down at my hands.

"They took him."

---

Adrien laid his head against the bars sadly, tears tracks evident on his face as they glistened. He had been put in a jail cell, locked in and net yet fed for what he had assumed was the day that had already passed. This felt like home to him in all honesty, being isolated and locked up.

Adrien heard the jingle of keys and perked up slightly, eyeing the door as it opened. His body slumped even further as he didn't recognize any of the entering individuals. Though, when they all made a course directly toward him, he shuffled back a bit.

"You!" The biggest man spoke. He was wearing a tall, spiked crown with a ceremonial shawl draped over his left shoulder, his non-dominant arm. His neck was covered in a few jewels, along with his waist. His tail was a dark blue-ish grey color. "Stand." He commanded and Adrien felt compelled to obey, whether it be because of his fear or curiosity he did not know.

The large man nodded his thick mustache and thinning brown hair not wavering at all in the water. Suddenly, the bars were moved and a tall woman swam in. Her hair was long and brown, her eyes were a sharp green and her scaly skin was a warm tan. She slithered in, not unlike a snake, and stopped graciously in front of Adrien.

"Little kitty, where is your lady?" The mermaid(?) almost sang as she swam around him. Her voice was angelic and Adrien could barely keep his eyes off of her. At once her features seemed to change. She seemed to have bigger, bluer eyes. Her grew short with a dark tint to it, almost blue, but seemingly black.

Adrien's eyes widened as he stared at her, her voice seeming to change in tone as well.

"Oh poor kitty, where is your lady? So you seek, let's have a peek-" Her voice cut off as she reached out to caress Adrien's arms.

After a moment of her humming and soothingly caressing his arm, the lady tore back. She snapped loudly in his face which seemly snapped him out of his trance. Adrien looked around, confused.

"Are you- Are you a siren?" He asked, fear clear in his voice.

Her features returned to normal. She smirked at him and blew a kiss before walking out with a straight face. The bars were returned to normal and all Adrien could do was stare as she walked away, saying something to the big man that made him stare at Adrien in disbelief.
