Café
"Why didn't we stay to congratulate Rorey on his win?" The brunette girl asked Robyn, using her straw to swirl her iced tea. She looked up from her drink, waiting for a reply.
Putting her pointer finger up and gesturing for Bella to give her a second to send out a text first. After tapping the send button, Robyn switched off her phone, ready to give Bella her attention.
" 'Cause the boy has already got a big head, trust me his ego has been pumped already." Rolling her eyes at no one in particular, Robyn continued." You'll get time to do that, trust." She nodded her head at the café's entrance just as Rorey walked in.
Cursing under her breath, too, as she saw him walk in with someone else. 'This nigga' she was sure she invited just him out to lunch as a celebratory act. It was a kind gesture on her part for not staying back to do so after the game. She was running away from her problems as she had already done. Giving the excuse of not wanting to be spotted by a lot of people.
She was certainly going to smack the shit out of him when next they were alone. Putting a smile on her face, it was time to put on her big girl panties. Not like he would remember her from that long ago.
She did remember him though...from that long ago.
Standing up to greet her brother in a hug, making sure to jab him with her elbow in the process. She wiped her hand on her pants before accepting Odell's extended hand that was out to shake. It wasn't meant to be awkward but she found a way to make it be. She had only grabbed the tips of his fingers, immediately retracting her hands to the side.
Who would've thought the model and business mogul would be acting this way around a guy? She carried herself as an epitome of courage as a perfectionist. Some might even think. Although her college self won't be marvelled at this act, the woman she had taken years to build, a brand her career was built impersonating, throwing insults at her.
She sat back down, with Bella sitting to her right, Rorey to her left and Odell across from her. Just the perfect sitting arrangement she thought. The centre of it all, realising she hadn't introduced Bella at all too lost in criticising her actions. Throwing their stares off her was her aim. If she was questioning her actions, maybe they were doing the same. Rorey had his eyebrows slightly furrowed at her actions. Bella, being the one to exempt herself, just looked away, deciding to keep her focus on her iced tea. Just as Robyn had remembered Odell to be, he brushed off the weird action completely before taking a seat.
She cleared her throat before introducing Bella to Rorey and Odell. She wasn't sure if Odell had remembered her, Rorey hadn't introduced her at all. She figured he must have told him they were getting lunch with his sister. Plus, Odell hadn't shown any signs of being familiar with her. She brushed it off for now. As long as their attention wasn't on her at the moment, she was fine.
Throughout lunch, the four had conversations as a group and also had side discussions. She was catching up with Rorey on their past weeks apart. Bella was getting to know Rorey, going as far as exchanging each other's numbers. Odell spoke to Rorey, mostly talking to Bella a few times. He had wanted to talk to Robyn too, but he felt like she just wasn't in the mood. She spent most of her time on her phone, replying to emails and telling her manager to set up meetings with people she was sure would add weight, growth, and meaning to her already successful career.
Odell made a note to get her contact info from Rorey afterwards. She was pretty, and she had a body one would lust after, it would not be of him to not get a pretty girl's number. Plus she was one of the few female celebrities he had on his fuck list, and one day he was sure to tick all of them off too.
After they were done with lunch Bella was the first to leave saying she had other things to do and an early start the next day. Robyn took that as her cue to head out. The two ladies said their goodbyes to the guys heading out together. They had driven together in Robyn's new car. She had driven it today for the first time, just so she could remind Rorey that she hadn't come watch him play cause he asked her to, even if that was the reason. She liked it when he begged her to do things. She needed him to appreciate all her efforts when she did minimal things for him. So she drove the car today to remind him that was the reason she had come, and again, not cause he simply asked. She was sure she wasn't going to come for any other football game of his. Odell was his teammate, and she would go back to her lifestyle of avoiding him like the plague. It kept her sanity intact, and that was all that mattered.
She dropped Bella off at her designated location and went on to mind the business that paid her.
