Night had fallen, eclipsing the world in dark purples and blues by the time you reached the driveway of your home. You could see the kitchen light on and hoped that it was Kyrie or Nico awake, rather than Nero. He always lacked the gossip gene, which was fine as far as you were concerned. You quickly unlocked the front door and pushed inside, relieved to be out of the chilly air. The door clicked shut softly as you unfastened your jacket and turned to hang it. Your hand froze mid-air as you studied the addition to the rack. There was a heavy red duster hanging from your hook, and a sword propped against the wall. "Hello?" You called out, draping your jacket on one of the spare hooks.

"In the kitchen," Kyrie called out.

Your hands patted down the front of your dress as you made your way into the little kitchen. Everyone seemed to be piled inside, including the guests of the evening. Nero was sitting at the small round table with Kyrie right beside him, nursing a cup of tea. Dante was leaning back in another chair, his feet resting on the table. Toward the back was V, who was hunched forward and watching you through strands of his dark hair. Nico had taken up residence on the counter, her legs swinging idly.

"Shit, I would have had a better time here..." you said, walking over to Nico and leaning against the countertop beside her. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Kyrie was trying to be nice and invited them over for dinner," Nero said. He appeared more than a little displeased by the extra company.

"Well it was gonna be some alone time for him and Kyrie, but I came home early," Nico said, leaning forward. You glanced up and noticed the faint pink blush covering Nero's cheekbones.

"So it's a dinner party instead now?" you asked.

"Well, dinner at least. Can't say it was much of a party," Dante said, folding his arms across his middle.

"Watching Nero and Dante fight over the last slice was rather enjoyable," V murmured, his eyes still locked on you.

Brows furrowed, you turned to Nico and pouted, "Did you get a video?" you asked. She shook her head, her dark hair swishing back and forth.

"Fraid not, was busy trying to keep those idiots from killing each other," she said. Nico glanced at you, and realized you were home alone. "What happened to your date?" she asked.

You scoffed and rolled your head back against your shoulders. Your lightly curled hair brushed against the nape of your neck. "He was a total sleeze. We went to one of those pretentious restaurants where everyone's kind of uptight and he ordered lobster or some shit. Which would have been totally fine- I got a burger! But then he said he forgot his wallet and tried to get me to pay for the whole thing." You threw your hands in the air with a huff.

"I paid for my half and he ponied up his card to pay for his. Then he asks if I wanna go back to his place for some 'alone' time." You shuddered and shook your head looking up at Nico. "I HATE blind dates," you said.

"That sounds terrible," Kyrie spoke up, giving you a sympathetic look.

"Yeah well, it was bad. So I'm gonna turn in, I think I've had enough socializing for the night." With a sigh you patted Nico's knee and waved at the other before disappearing into the hallway. The bedrooms were all on the second floor, so you climbed the stairs and pushed open your door. It was a welcome sight after a night of disappointment. Idly you moved across the room and hooked your phone up to the speakers and flipped onto one of your 'mood' lists. The air was filled with slow playing 50's music as you wandered around in a couple of circles, humming to yourself.
