The next day Leah went to school. She thought "Everybody will tease me because of my bruises." Leah started to cry as she got ready for school and thought about all the mean things people would say as she walked in all bruised up. She couldn't tell anybody because her parents had threatened her. The only person she ever talked to was her best friend Sydney. Leah and Sydney had been friends since they were kids. She trusted Sydney and she knew Sydney would never tell anybody. Leah decided to ride her bike to school instead of asking her parents to take her. She didn't even eat breakfast she got dressed, brushed her hair and teeth and left for school. When she got to school her face was red from crying on the way to school. Sydney ran up to her and gave her a big hug. "What happened" Sydney asked in a shakey voice. Leah explained what had happened the night before. "I am so sorry that these things are happening too you" Sydney said almost in tears. "I have a plan" Leah said excitedly. "What kind of plan"Sydney asked eagerly. "Well tonight I am going to sneak out of my window and run as far as I can and never come back" Leah said almost overjoyed. "Wait what you are running away" Sydney asked. "Well I can't let you be out there by yourself" Sydney said. "Are you coming with me" Leah asked smiling from ear to ear. "Well of course I am, meet me in front of my house at exactly 12:00" Sydney said. "You got it" Leah said. Leah and Sydney walked into school together. As soon as they walked in everybody started laughing and pointing. Leah put her head down and went to her class.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~8 hours later: school was out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"See you at 12" Leah said excitedly. Sydney waved and kept walking. All the way home Leah was thinking about her future without her parents, just her and Sydney, no rules, no parents she couldn't wait. 10:00 rolled around and it was time for Leah to go to sleep. "Go to bed" Jennifer yelled from across the house. It was 11:30 when Leah jumped out of her bed, packed her bags, threw in her watch, and went out through the window. "I am free" Leah said smiling with excitement.
