"Oh no. Tristan's looking at me again!" I panicked to my friend Alissa. "Relax Emmy. It's not that big of a deal." She replied. I realized she had been gazing at one of Tristans friends. "How can you be caring about Tristan when all his hot friends are around." She gave a small sigh at the end of that sentance. I realized who she was looking at. It was the same person as always. Jason; the most popular boy in school.
The bell rang as Alissa and I scurried to class. "Take your seats class." I heard Mr. Straut say as I walked to my desk. I plopped into my chair. "We have two new students coming tommorow. Since two are leaving." Mr. Straut anounced.
I'd heard that there's two students leaving but I never found out who they were. I looked over at Alissa who seemed to know nothing about what Mr. Straut had told us. "Well, who are leaving?" Jason blurted out. I looked around the room. Everyone had a blank face exept for Tristan who looked the same as always; Chocalote brown hair, sparkling brown eyes, and a kind smile.
Tristan looked like he knew everything about the conversation that the class and Mr. Straut were having. Thinking about what Jason had asked, I looked back at my teacher. "Well, why don't you ask your classmates?" He said looking at each one of us individualy. "Not me." A bunch of people truthfully said. No one in the class said they were leaving. He must of mixed us up with another class. I thought to myself hoping it was true.
"Does anyone even think their moving or anything?" Mr. Straut asked looking annoyed that no one admitted that they were leaving. No one raised their hand or said anything. "Do I have to tell you?" A couple people nodded but most of the class sat silent. "Ok then. Tristan and Emily are moving." I was stunned. By the looks of it, Tristan was too. "What!?!" We both asked.
Mr. Straut had a look on his face that told us he was extremly annoyed. "Ok well, go home and ask your parents if you want more detail because I've got to teach the lesson." He said but I wasn't listening. I was thinking about what he had said. I looked over at Alissa and she mouthed "what!?!" I didn't know anything about what Mr. Straut had told the class. "I don't know!" I mouthed back silently.
I couldn't focus in class. I sat 45 minutes strait thinking. None of my parents had told me anything about moving. It looked like Tristan was confused too. "Bring, bring!" The bell rang. I didn't want to go to my next class. I wanted to go home and talk to my parents. As I started walking to my next class, Alissa pulled me aside.
"Did you know that you were moving?" She quickly asked. I told her that I had no idea I was moving or leaving our school. "That's strange. Well anyway I got to go to class. See ya later." she told me right before she started running to her class. 2nd period, was worse then first. I had a bunch of girls I barly knew that came up to me and asked where I was moving to. "To tell you the truth, I have absoulutly no idea." I admited to anyone that asked me. Whenever I said that, they would just walk away with a discusted expression.
By 3rd period. Almost all the 10th grade girls had asked me where I was moving. Even some of the 9th graders had asked. I was really sick of it after awhile. When I saw Tristan, he looked like he felt the same way. Once again, I ignored everything the teacher said and thought about where I would be moving. 3rd period terrible though. We were doing a sheet of math and everyone kept saying that it was easy and they finished in about 5 minutes.
That really didn't help me or Tristan at all because none of us were listening so we stared blankly at the page. I quickly glanced at the clock.
3 minutes untill lunch
I needed it to be lunchtime already so I could talk to Tristan and Alissa.
2 minutes untill luch
C'mon bell ring! Those last 2 minutes were the longest two minutes of my life. I watched the clock as every second got closer to lunch. I looked around the classroom to see a bunch of bight smiles that were so happy their homework was so easy. I still didn't understand it but I didn't care. The bell suddenly rang. It was music to my ears. I slipped into the hallway hoping I would miss the crowd. Of course, I didn't. In this school, there's always a crowd in the halway. As I joined the huge crowd of people, I tried to look overs peoples shoulder so I could find Alissa. I stood as high as I could but I couldn't find her. By the time I got to the lunchroom, she was already sitting down and was saving a spot for me.
"Hey Alissa." I said softly. "Huh? Sorry I can't here you. This lunchrooms so loud!" She yelled. "Don't worry." I yelled back so she could here me. Alissa had a look on her face that asked if I was ok. Instead of answering, I just gave her a huge smile. "Emily Thurston and Tristan Broi, would you please come to the office." The intercome asked. Tristan and I stood up andstarted walking towards the office. By the time we were there, our parents were waiting for us. "We have something to tell you guys." My mom said seriously. "But we can't tell you here." Tristans dad added.
My dad stroked his fingers through my long, black hair. "C'mon darling. We need time to pack aswell." Me, my mom, and my dad all headed towards our car in silence. Tristan and his parents did too. We all squished in and it was silent until Tristan and I started flooding them with questions. "We'll tell you when we get to the Thurston's house." Tristans mom answered looking frightened of us.
***********
The adults sat us down on the sofa and slowly backed away. I knew something was going on. My parents have never acted so weird. "Ok I need to tell you guys the cold hard truth. You two, are adopted." My mother started. As she told me that, I started to feel sick. "Your planet is in trouble." She continued. "Wait a sec, our planet? Does that mean we're not from earth?" Tristans mom nodded looking like she was about do start sobbing.
This isn't happening! I have been adopted and I'm from another planet! All of a sudden, I burst into tears. I tried to hold them back but I couldn't. Tristan grabed my hand. "Don't worry. It'll work out in the end." He comforted me. I saw my dad try to come towards me but suddwnly backed away as he remembered I wasn't like him. "I-I've contacted the goverment and they are going to send you back to where you belong." Tristans mom said as she started sobbing.
I thought about that sentance very carefully. She said they'll send us where we belong. That word made me feel... unwanted. "Where we belong!?!" Tristan must have read my thoughts. I don't how he stayed strong. He squezed my hand tighter. I knew he wouldn't let go until this conversation was over. I looked into Tristans eyes while crying. I could tell he was holding back tears. "I didn't mean it that way..." Tristans mom managed to get out. Then, the doorbell rang.
I watched as my mom ran towards the door in tears. Through the window, I could see someone dressed up in an army suit. It looked like a general. A general that has come to take Tristan and I away. My mom opened the door and the general stepped in and pointed his gun at me and Tristan. "I won't shoot if you listen to me." He told us pointing his gun even closer towards us. "Your parents must have already told you that you are not from earth." He said while advancing closer to us. "I don't think they've told you what planet your from."
I'd forgotten about that. I had no idea about where they were sending us. "The planets called 'anopenia' its very much like earth. The only major difference is that there's half as much gravity there as there is here. The people are also very much like earthens. They all have an ability that we don't. I'll leave that for you two to figure out yourselves." I bit my lip as I thout about Anopenia. "You two are leaving tommorow at 6 o'clock pm. You'll go to school but get out as early as you did today. Your ship is a 2 hour fly away from here and that flight leaves at 12:15 am."
The general walked towards the door. My mom quickly shuffled towards it and opened it for him. He left in silence. Tritans parents thanked my mom and father for letting them come and told Tristan to come. I could tell he didn't want to but he loosened his grip of my hand and waked out the door. I didn't have any worries at the second. Tristan and I would be safe with each other.
