~Dawnfreeze's PoV~
I kept flying, holding something dear to me in my front talons. My wings ached from flying and trying to get away from the two queens hunting me down but I couldn't let them get me...I held in my talons was my son or daughter...my only living son or daughter...I wish you're brothers and sisters could have lived my little Icewing...No! I have no time to grief for the young dead! I need to get this egg to Icerift so he or she shall be save! I kept flying until a saw a mountain and a opening. I landed in it and put the egg down in a pile of hay and Fire bird feathers, I layed there...hoping Blister or Burn wouldn't find me and destroy the last offspring I had...or ever will have if they were to kill me. The queen's unfortunately did spot me in my safe spot from the rain and their talons...not to mention their tails. As they flew closer, I hid the egg and started to create a freezing cold breath...an Icewing's secret weapon. I shot a ray of ice at them, Burn took the hit but manged to stay in the sky. They both came closer and I knew then and there what I had to do to protect my little Icewing. I flew at them and slammed into Blister, causing us both to be knocked out of the sky. As she fell I flew up quickly and smashed into Burn's under belly. Where is Icerift!? He could be helping me right now! I was token out of thought by a sharp pain coming from one of wings and then I was falling. I lashed at Burn with my whip-like tail and took her out of the sky and slowed her down, she flung around and suck her sharp teeth into my neck. I let out a loud roar and tried to get lose but it was no avail...I was going to die.
"Get away from her you winged rat!" A voice roared through my mind and I knew who it was.
The weight was soon off my neck and I wasn't bleeding as much...but a neck wound is never okay to have and there was a small chance I would survive this. I looked at Icerift, his gray scales sparking with ice mixed with electricity, he watched as the two queens got up and started moving towards him and I. My neck was bleeding too much and I soon blacked out, soon after though I woke up and saw Icerift fighting the queens by him self to protect me and our little dragon in the cave above the fighting scene. He knocked out Blister with a sharp hit of his tail and moved to Burn, who flew above him and landed in front of me. Icerift flew at her and knocked her to the ground, but she soon kicked him off and stung me in the chest with her tail. The poison went through my body and my vision soon started to fade, Burn took flight and left Icerift to watch me die right in front of him.
"Dawnfreeze! No!" Icerift roared and ran to my side. His eyes soon filled with tears. "You cant leave me...Dawnfreeze...you just can't!"
"I-it's okay Icerift...you'll be fine...you're going to be an amazing father to our little dragon..." I said, voice starting to weaken.
"No...I can't do this without you! Please Dawnfreeze! Don't leave me!"
"I-I love you...goodbye..." my vision faded completely and my heart stopped. I'll miss you...take care of our little dragon okay...goodbye Icerift my love...
~Icerift's PoV~
I watched as she died, her breathing became slow and I saw it then stop. She's dead...Dawnfreeze is....dead...I should have done something...anything! Our little dragon now doesn't have a mother...j-just a father...me...
I looked away from Dawnfreeze's dead, lifeless body and flew up to the small cave. Grabbing the egg and flying to a mountain just south of where the fight happened and where she had died saving the tiny little life in the egg I held in my front talons. I flew through a hole in the mountain covered by a large and haviey boulder. A Seawing with the name of, Webs pushed the boulder aside and let me in, he lead me to a small camber with a nest full of dragon eggs. In the nest was a Seawing egg, a Nightwing egg, a Skywing egg, and a egg as red as dragon's blood which was probably a Mudwing egg, I studied the eggs and placed my offspring's egg in nest next to the Nightwing egg.
"So...this is you're dragonlet's egg? Why give you son or daughter to us if you know that they will soon have to stop a war?" Webs asked me, I never knew the answer but I came up with one fast.
"I don't want him or her to be dead before their life begins...like his or her brother's and sister's..." I said as an answer to the Seawing.
"I see..." Webs said and then turned around to see another Icewing, he walked over to Webs and I. Webs explained what was going on and the Icewing just gave a quick nod, flying out of the cave and into the stormy weather outside. I left the small camber of the cave and moved to another one where Webs said I could sleep and stay for the time being until I have to leave and work for the talons of peace or fight in the war.
~one week later on the brightest night~
I paced the camber of my living quarters, the eggs would hatch tonight and I couldn't wait to actually see the little dragonlet. If only you're mother was here little one...she always wanted a little she-dragon. I hope she gets her wish...
I stopped pacing and layed down on the rock ledge that was my nest, I waited there until I heard the patter of claws against the rock floor of the cave. A Skywing dragon came in, her glance was abit harsh but that was to be expected when you have a bad past such as hers. She lead me to the small camber with the eggs, she felt me with Webs and another Icewing, her name being Crystal.
"You're the father of the Icewing, huh?" She asked and looked at me with sparkling purple eyes.
"Yes" I answered and looked at the egg, now starting the creak as the dragon inside it was pushing it's way out.
"Oh that's great! The kingdom needs more fathers who stay with their young instead of leaving them and finding another mate all because it was breeding night..." She said with a rather sad but happy expression. "Where's the mom?" She asked
"Dead" I said in a low, sad growl. Not meaning to unset the she-dragon just I always hated the memories of that night. "She was killed by Burn and Blister along with our other eggs..." I said with a sad growl again.
"Oh...I'm sorry..." Crystal said and walked out of the camber, leaving me to watch the eggs start moving and creaking as the little dragonets pushed out fo their egg shells. I watched the Icewing egg until I could see a tiny snot come out and then a head, I kept watching and soon a little Icewing came out and was covered in yolk. A she-dragon! Oh Dawnfreeze you got you're little she-dragon after all...
I thought and saw as the little ones eyes started to open, revealing light green eyes, not lime green like her mother's. She had white scales and a blue lighting bolt marking going down her side's, I could see a peice of orange hair at the top of her tiny head.
It's weird how that hair comes only with some dragons...
I thought to myself and then made my way to her, she was small but that didn't matter.
I have a daughter! I could do things with her and train her and- no...I can't...I have to either fight or try and make peace. If I go to the war I might die and leave her with not only a mother dead but a father as well...I...I won't leave her! I won't die! Right? my little Icewing will be safe here. She'll be safe with Webs and the other's...s-she better be...
I bent down and smiled, putting my snot to her ear.
" Hey little one...I'm you're dad...I won't leave you my little Icewing...I'll vist you and I'll be there...I promise" I pulled my head away from her ear and watched her as she looked up at me. She got up, falling but regaining her feet soon after and started to walk to me. When she got to me and layed at my feet, curling up with her tail curled around her, she rubbed her head against one of my talons and soon fell asleep. I smiled more, thinking of a few names here and there. I then stopped at a name in my head.
Lightingstrike...that's a good name...it fits her. Okay my little Icewing, Lightingstrike you're name shall be
"You'll get along with Crystal and Webs my little Lightingstrike" I said.
"So the Icewing hatched?" A voice came from behind me. I turned around to see Webs.
"Yeah the egg hatched. I named her...if that's okay..."
"No its fine, I was going to let you name the dragonlet anyway seeing how it's you're offspring" Webs came up next to me and one looked at the little shape that was going to stop a war when she got older with the other dragonet's. "So what did you name her?" Webs asked.
"Lightingstrike" I said and looked down and kept my eyes on her, as if she was going to fly away any second.
After a few days I went to the talons of peace and stayed with them, going to see her only at night. But that changed after the course of a few weeks and I couldn't see her after that, I was sad and was going to be a keeper/trainer of the dragonets. But the talons of peace forbid for me to see her again...I don't know why...but...I have to take orders or rules and follow them. One day I'll see her again but until that day comes, I'll stay a far distance and watch her grow up from afar not up close.
