Walking around the hallways, making my surroundings familiar to my eyes, transferring schools is more complicated than I thought. I don't have any problems fitting in, it's just the foreign environment that makes me feel uneasy. While walking around I overheard a conversation from one of the classrooms.

"Misfortune is at it again! I almost got involved with her a while ago, good thing she knows when to avoid."

Miss fortune? I suddenly remembered what my old classmates used to call me, 'Mister Fortune' Is this pure coincidence, or are we destined?

"Hey! may I know her locker number?" I asked, my smile almost reaching my glistening eyes.

"Misfortune?"

"Yes, Miss Fortune!"

They were hesitant but in the end, I was able to force them.

Luckily, I was able to follow someone all the way to the locker area. I inserted my letter in the locker number the girls told me and waited.

and waited...

and waited but I still haven't received her reply...

While I was eating lunch with my classmates, I turned around when I heard someone called "Misfortune! come eat with us!"

I looked at who they were calling for, and as she was walking towards their table, she tripped and her lunch fell all over her. I got up and was about to walk toward her but was halted by my seatmate, "Here's a tip, don't get involved with her, your life will be a mess, literally."

But I brushed his hands off and still try to help her, but it felt like the whole world is telling me not to. People suddenly walk in front of me blocking me from reaching her, some random trays are passing by, and unfamiliar people call for me at the worst timing. By the time I finally got past, she was already gone.

"Is my luck wearing off or something?" I assumed.

I went to my locker and I still haven't gotten a reply, I figured that I might've inserted it in the wrong locker or it somehow changed so I tried putting it in the locker beside it.

And so, I finally received her reply. At first, I thought it was just scratch paper because of the lack of effort but the moment I opened it and found the handwriting unfamiliar, I burst into enjoyment.

---

It's Misfortune, not Miss Fortune. You saw me trip over nothing for a reason.

ps. I purposely ignored your letter...

---

I was speechless... days of waiting and rejection are all I get...

But of course, I didn't stop.

---

You know letters are really old-fashioned, how about using our phones instead?

She rarely replies, and even I am wondering why am I chasing someone who doesn't even show interest in me.

But every time I see her walking at school, without any thought I kept on trying to reach for her, and again, the universe still won't let me.

---

Creep

I burst out laughing, that is the most Misfortune reply I probably could get. I thought of flexing my talents, then maybe she'd give me a bit of interest.

---

Wow, must be nice not breaking every single thing you touch. I have a talent as well! I'm good at attracting strange and creepy people

I should've seen that coming... Oh! I know, let's tell her about the performance, maybe that'll cheer her up.

***

As I was about to perform, I finally spotted her but I spotted her on her way towards the exit gate in a rush.

"Is she not gonna watch me?" I mumbled to myself wondering where she was going.

***

Something came up, sorry for not coming to your performance...

Oh no, I hope it's nothing terrible... should I record a song for her?

---

I couldn't focus in class, she took over my head and live rent-free. Though she makes it obvious that she's not interested in me, her reply makes me the happiest. "Why is it so hard to hang out with her..." I mumbled.

I gathered up the courage to try and write my feelings towards her, but I couldn't come up with the right words. In the end, I was only able to write 3 words.

Right in front of her locker, I hesitated before inserting the letter. I already felt like burying myself...

I waited at the corner, this time I wanted to finally face her and tell her face-to-face what I truly feel because those 3 words weren't enough.

She wrote something on a piece of paper, I assumed it was her reply, I walked up behind her and called for her.

"Miss... fortune?"

"Is that you?"

"You got the wrong person..." She said, but I know well that you are the right person. She tried to walk away but I gently grabbed her hand "I've always wondered how would it feel like to hold your hands..." I spoke my mind, I let go of her hand in panic.

"Sorry was I making you uncomfortable? I didn't mean to..."

She grabbed my hand and we made eye contact, I was stunned by her eyes, it was the first time she looked my way...

But the moment we did, she cried.

She said hurtful words, but her eyes told me to stay...

I was in front of her yet she acted as if I disappeared.

"HE IS THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME!" she shouted.

I was confused, the letter came into my mind and so I grabbed it from my locker behind her.

and It was finally clear to me...

I don't know what you look like or how you act, all I know are your touching words and your soothing voice. Yet, you still manage to make me feel like an actual 'Miss Fortune'. Your letter might be just a joke or it might not even be from you but either way, I'm ready to confess to you. I know how this will end so it is better to end it sooner, I can't be with you because I love you. I can't have what I love... the moment we face each other... you will disappear and I'm scared of that...
