The Journey of the Afterlife

After Death

There he was, after living a life of righteousness (regardless of his society) Professor Vavra had made it to the Pearl Gates. The suspended cloud softly enveloped his feet, and a small smile spread across his face as he approached the gold entrance glistening in the Sun.
"Welcome to Heaven" set a bass enthused voice he could only assume was that of God.
"What is your name?" The voice asked.
"Edward" said Vavra proudly.
As he spoke the gates begin to open simultaneously. Suddenly, he saw what could only be described as euphoric. He saw an enormous tree in the distance. Even at 5 miles away he could make out the books hanging from the tree branches (he later learned this to be the Tree of Knowledge). A slight wind shifted the flowers surrounding him and a phoenix flew gracefully across the sky. As he walked down the diamond encrusted path, coffee thermos in tow, a quaint little cottage came to view. The roof was made of gold straw, potted plants littered the windows. Could this be mine he pondered in hope. But slowly the scenic background began to fade and was replaced with an ivory white office. A huge man sitting behind a computer desk sat before him. The man had long red hair that reached his forearm. A harsh nose protruded from his face, but forgiving eyes encircled by wrinkles balanced his features.
"I have been waiting for your arrival" he stated quietly.
Vavra recognized the voice instantly.
"Pardon my ignorance" he started, "but I thought God had brown hair?"
"I am not God" said the man. "I am Theodus, God's angel consultant. I research the incoming people a week before their death and get all their information. Then, I use the gathered data and figure out where on our cloud to put you based off of likes, hobbies, and interests."
"Not that I'm not pleased to meet you but, will I get to meet the big man himself?" Vavra questioned.
"Yes" Theodus chuckled. "She will be right with you."
Theodus pressed send on the keyboard as Vavra's mouth gaped in shock.
