Ever since Cody was little his birthday felt unimportant to him. It was always discarded to the side, which made sense. He was born on April 1 and who would want to sing happy birthday when you could pull pranks? And his parents never had cared for Cody, he was just an extra person to feed and pay for.  When Cody was 5 he had always loved his birthday.

-1994-

"Good morning!!" Cody had yelled as he walked into his preschool, his mom quick to leave the scene. "Good morning Cody!" Owen had shouted back excited to see his friend. "What's that behind your back?" Owen had asked but quickly gave his question an answer him self "IS THAT CAKE?!" Cody nodded, with a big smile on his face. "Yeah it is! It's my birthday today and I wanted to share-" but before he could finish his sentence the cake had already been grasped out of his hands and stuffed into Owen's mouth. "Oh.. Well that's ok! I could buy a new one next year!" Cody said. "Mmm. This cake is delicious!" Owen said as he was licking off his fingers "were you saying something?" Owen asked. He clearly was paying more attention to the cake then to Cody. "Huh- oh no- nothing important" Cody had replied. Cody had turned around looking for chef only for a water balloon to meet his head "APRIL FOOLS DAY!" He heard Duncan scream and laugh, Courtney quick to scold him and say that he could have aimed for the body. It did hurt but Cody want gonna let that ruin his birthday.

"Cheffff" Cody slurred "can we sing happy birthday to me when it's snack time? I had an cake and everything but Owen ate it." Cody said. "No Cody. How bout we spend our day on important things?" Chef had said. That's stings. Maybe Noah would want to celebrate his birthday! "Hey Noah!" Cody said but Noah didn't answer to deep in his book to even pay attention to the things around him. "Or not." Cody mumbled to himself. "Why does no one want to play with me?" Cody asked him self. "Chef can I go to the potty?" Cody had asked him. "Yes. How bout Duncan goes with you." "No-" "DUNCAN! Take Cody to the bathroom"
Chef had 'asked' Duncan "why? Can't he go himself?" Duncan replied. "You know the rules." Great just great. Cody was about to open the door and walk through when a bucket of water fell on him. Making him soaking wet. This was Cody's breaking point. Cody's first birthday at school was an disaster. Cody couldn't stand it anymore, all his tears spilled out of his eyes as sobs escaped his mouth, he wanted to go home but he knew that wouldn't be possible. His parents were at work and would be pissed if one of them had to go home and take care of an child. "Hahahah is Cody crying?" Duncan laughed as he pointed towards Cody. "Omg he his!" Ezekiel said. Soon all of the preschoolers were looking at Cody with either pity , second hand embarrassment, or laughter. Cody quickly hid his face in his hands. He wanted to go home now.

-end of flashback-

Over the years Cody began to care less for his birthday. Everybody around him had never cared so why would he? It's not fun to celebrate your birthday all alone in a dark room when your parents are in a romantic dinner and your friends can't even remember a simple date. For the people around him April 1st will be April fools day but for Cody it would be the worst day of his life. Instead of Birthday it was "let's-bully-Cody-even-more-cuz-now-we-have-an-excuse-day" birthdays were supposed to be fun. They are not. The only thing birthdays taught Cody is that nobody cares about your birthday and it's just a waste of money and hope, everybody will leave you behind so be alert. Every. Second. Some would even say "that's what you get for being born on April 1st" and proceed to "prank" Cody.
Thats just life I guess. In some way Cody's birthday or rather childhood had left him traumatized. Cody had never been the favorite but much rather the target and the bullying would only get worse over the years and with Cody's parents never around it only thought him it's every person for them selfs, never turn your back and always stay alert.
