Chapter Text
"I see here you were a cheerleader?" Cami states as she looks through her notes." Huh, I got to tell you, Hope, you are the least cheery person I have ever met."
"Shut up!" Hope screams out, suddenly feeling wetness on her cheek. "I never want to think about being a cheerleader again!"
The auburnette grabs and tugs at her hair, feeling the emotions welling up again, threatening to spill over and drown her.
"Oh god! Why am I crying so much?!" Hope exclaimed helplessly.
Cami pauses, unaffected at the Mikaelson heiress' outburst.
Clearly, Cami is used to these spontaneous bouts of crying spells in her experience of dealing with patients.
"It's ok to keep crying, Hope," Cami comforts as she hands Hope some tissue from a box she has in front of her, "sometimes you have to cry out a sea of sadness to make room for a heart full of smiles."
Hope wipes her face with a tissue before snarking, "Did you read that in one of your major psych books?"
"My dad," Cami clarifies as she handed Hope another tissue. "He always made me feel safe whenever I was in his arms. And he gave the best advice."
Just saying those words made Hope want to cry harder, the Mikaelson heir's relationship with her father still very much on the mend.
"Would it be alright if I asked you more about being a cheerleader?" Hope nodded tentatively. "Why did you even want to become one in the first place?"
Hope grinned, wondering if she should reveal it was because, at the time, it was the closest thing she could get to live out her sexual fantasies with Josie.
"Because I wasn't alone anymore." Hope rubbed the back of her head. "I mean, I hated it at first, kind of cheesy, but for the first, it felt nice having a squad of friends I could depend on."
Camile chuckled lightly, "That sounds amazing," Cami tucked her notebook safely away to show Hope she wanted to be more personal with the girl. "How did that feel?"
"Unbelievable, extraodinary, best experience of my life," Hope could go on, but hated how insecure she sounded right now.
"Do you know how friendship, like real friendship, and relationships are incredibly rare to find for someone like me?"
Cami shakes her head and Hope tries to get the blonde to understand Hope's situation better.
"When you are as rich, as privileged, as me, and with a powerful father like Klaus Mikaelson, everyone wants to use you," Hope pauses, never realizing how much she didn't appreciate what she had while she had it "you never know what's real. But I knew my teammates were... I knew what Josie felt for me was real."
Hope shook her head, quickly changing gears to avoid going down that road again.
"I guess that is why I got Cleo a spot on the team," Hope said, wiping the tears from her face.
Oh, that's adorable," Cami praised, and Hope shrugged, "you wanted your new friend who struggled her whole life to fit in to experience the same level of normalcy and friendship you did."
