Just by mentioning Wei Ying and imagining that someone else might approach him like that... that Wei Ying with someone else... Lan Zhan was immediately angry again.
Angry at his brother for considering it.
Angry at Wen Ning for getting so close to Wei Ying.
Angry at Nie Huaisang for spending so much time with Wei Ying and being touched and hugged by him in public.
He put down Bichen and sat back down at his zither. His melody was angry, harsh, and had high, aggressive notes.
Jealousy.
Lan Zhan played and played. Tried to play it out just like everything else for Wei Ying or push it far back and cover it with ice.
Go back...back into the cold.
Protection of the spirit!
Duty before heart.
Duty before Wei Ying.
Wei Ying was restlessly sliding around in his chair the whole time. He had been listening to Lan Zhan play his zither for more than an hour. The melody was getting to him, making him nervous. Although it was beautiful, he had the feeling of an icy wind getting under his skin, wanting to carry something important away from him. The feeling did not subside even after Lan Zhan stopped playing.
Although he wanted to go to his quarters after the others in his family had also said goodbye, he was drawn to his handsome stranger. Once again, the night was filled with Lan Zhan's playing, but this time the sounds were quite different.
Wei Ying entered Lan Zhan's home and immediately he began to smile when he saw him. Lan Zhan, who took no notice of him, was sitting at a small table playing his instrument with his eyes closed. In awe, he admired Lan Zhan's long, dexterous fingers and his soft blue glow. Lan Zhan was breathtaking, and his music was of a kind Wei Ying had never heard before.
Carefully, he walked to him and knelt beside him. Wherever it came from, however, Wei Ying knew that Lan Zhan was upset. The song made him nervous, and he felt the need to somehow reassure Lan Zhan, to give him a security. The security that he was there and would stay by his side.
When Lan Zhan had left, Wei Ying had somehow felt out of place. Which was strange... but he was missing something, something he hadn't missed before, because he hadn't known it. But now! Now he had experienced what it was like to have someone by his side... someone to be....
Fine ice-blue particles like ice crystals swirled wildly around Lan Zhan.
Wei Ying smiled and called out in a soft voice to his handsome stranger, "Lan Zhan..." the latter flinched so violently that Wei Ying almost jumped up himself.
Wei Ying grinned even wider as Lan Zhan looked at him, startled. "I forgot something earlier..." gently, he placed his hand on Lan Zhan's neck.
"Wha..." Wei Ying kissed him slowly and sensually. Lan Zhan grabbed Wei Ying's wrist in fright, this was exactly what he didn't want to happen again. He shuddered. Wei Ying kissed him not demandingly but full of feeling, devotion and so much warmth. Lan Zhan melted, his spirit curled, rolled in the warmth of Wei Ying. He needed this warmth! Wanted this warmth, Wei Ying drove away his icy cold memory. Lan Zhan held him, held the warmth and this feeling.
As he had been doing all evening, Wei Ying responded to Lan Zhan's needs. Although he wanted to bury him and his feelings for Wei Ying, he had needed him. Comfort, from the only person he would accept it from. And then this anger at the others... No, jealousy of the others. And yet Wei Ying was with him, had come to him.
