My head spun. Dizziness, the floor sloping and rising, lead by the perception of my eyes.
"Well played." I glared up at him in mock-defeat, but truly I adored how he complimented me. Well, anyone would enjoy being complemented to be fair, i'm not exactly unique. He steadied me, a firmly gentle grasp on my shoulders for a short amount of time managed to sort my brain out and force it to decide that the floor was not, in fact, warping.
"Now that you're conscious again, I can show you the results of my experiment." He leads me through the veritable maze of assorted lab equipment, vials stacked like mountains to hip height ; boiling and test tubes haphazardly left on the floor ; Clamp stands hitting my shins as I look at them, register their presence and then completely forget about their existence which results in my shins suffering another smack and another smack as well as an endless maze of bunsen burner cords, strings and other wires and all sorts.
"Remind me, what was this experiment about again?" I question him as he eagerly weaves around his self-made maze.
"I'm testing a self-made hallucinogenic substance which should have under ideal conditions induce a desirable hallucination in the mind of the person who consumed it when they fall into a state of REM sleep."I stared at him in confusion - all the long and complicated words made my brain have to actually work hard.
"Could you say that in English instead of scientist?" I caught up with him after standing on an innumerable amount of fragile pieces of equipment and leaving glistening diamond-like shards of glass on the floor.
He turned with a disappointed look on his face and said unnecessarily slowly, "I made a thing that makes you dream things you want while you sleep. Better now?""Massively." I smirked which seemed to irritate him further.
"May I continue?"
He removed the goggles from his head, shaking his hair out of his face. Putting on a pair of rectangular-framed glasses he peered to look at the results appearing on the computer."This should allow me to view the dream you were having or at least gain some inkling as to what it was about..."
I panicked - he knew what I was dreaming about?! What would he say?! What would he think of me?!
My thoughts, which were comparable to a squirrel in front of a speeding automobile on an iced road while the driver was both drunk and high, were cut short by his disappointed whine."Damn it! The results came back as void!"
