Black as night, smooth as a criminal, the impala entered the town. The windows were rolled down, wind breezing through the air. The sounds of an engine and Led Zeppelin cruising through the outskirts.

Mystic Falls. The home to vampire, doppelgängers, witches and werewolves. Small town but is it small enough? Maybe this town is mystical after all.......

Elena POV

School was the only thing normal amongst my life right now. Well now that I think about it barely normal. You see, my friends and I aren't what you'd call normal....or human. Lets see; my boyfriend, his brother, my best friend are vampires. My other best friend is a witch, a friend of mine is a werewolf. Now you're probably wondering what I am right? Well, I am what you call a doppelgänger. I have the exact same looks as another girl, her name is Katherine Pierce. She's a cow.

"Elena, hurry up school is about to start" yells my brother Jeremy from downstairs. I roll my eyes and dart downstairs and out the door, school awaits me.

I run in class just in time for the bell to ring. Alaric looks at me but doesn't say anything. Stefan shoots me a worrying glance for the fact that I was late, I give him a small smile.

It turns out that I'm not the latest person to school. There's a knock at the door. It opens revealing a brown haired chick who looks very pissed to be here.

"Sorry I'm late, I just uh- got lost..." the girl mumbles looking straight at rick and not us. She wears dark blue jeans, Bon Jovi shirt with a red plaid shirt layered over it. Here hair is pulled into a ponytail, strands leaking out of the very unsecured hair tie.

Rick smiles. "It's alright, first day and all." He pauses, "could you introduce yourself to the class?"

The girl breathes. She then turns to the class. "My name is Brooke Winchester." and heads down to the seat at the back of the class which also happens to be next to me.

Brooke slumps into the chair, taking out a notebook and scribbling messy words in it. Not paying attention to anything Alaric was saying (although I'm not either.)

I reach over and lightly tap her on the shoulder. I feel her body go rigged, and she slowly turns to look at me.

I gulp. "Hi, I know you're new here and being new sucks, so I was wondering if you wanted a friend?" I say as sincere as I want.

Brooke seems to contemplate for a moment. She smiles. "Sure, thank you."

We exchange numbers so I can text her for lunch. The bell rings and I go to leave with Stefan by my side. I wave at her as she heads of for her new class.

Finally something normal in my life.
