Prologue

Quickly after the royal wedding
Idarys Velaryon was born, first child and only daughter of Princess Rheanyra and Ser Leanor Velaryon. Second in line to the throne after her mother. Idarys was a kingdom favorite. Stories were told about her, how she was a gift for the Gods. That she was supposed to save them all and lead the kingdom to peace.

Idarys grew up close to her aunt and uncles. She and her aunt Helaena is the same age so thay did much together in the early years of their childhood but Helaena grew more to herself as they got older. Idarys there for grew even closer with her uncles. The twins Aegon and Aenys as well as their younger brother Aemond Targaryen.

Idarys also known for having the best dragon. She got her dragon egg at birth, chosen by her granduncle Deamon. At the age of seven she was separated from her mother and her gourds on a stroll around dragon stone. Idarys, a curious child wondered into one of the caves. There she happened apon the oldest dragon living, Pymecronth. Idarys was known to be fearless when it came to dragons. She was often found in the dragon pit, helping the dragonkeepers. So standing face to face with the large dragon was no issue for the young princess. It wasn't for certain what happened in the cave but the tale of the dragon that returned a baby to her mother was told by the gourds for years to come.
Rheanyra looked desperately for her daughter for hours and just as the gourds told her it would be best to return to king's landing, they looked up to the sky to see a sight never seen before. Pymecronth, the darkest of gray coloured dragon flying towards them with a little creature hanging from her mouth. Landing on the beach, the dragon laid in the sand releasing what was in its mouth. And the princess Idarys stood with a large smile on her face. Rheanyra stood back in fear and watched as her daughter petted the dragon she knew with the name of "the cursed".

At the age of ten she was able to go back to Pymecronth and claim her as her own.

As her brothers were born, she and her mother grew more distant than before, but still had a bond like no other. And she and Ser Harwin Strong grew closer. She masterd her sword skills and combat almost immediately after they started learning.

She charmed everyone she meet with her stunning looks and wittiness.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: In this story Princess Rheanyra's wedding was before Helaena's birth. And Aegon has a younger twin brother Aenys.
