The pitter patter of rain could be heard from the outside of a family's very own home somewhere in Musutafu Japan, the cold air whisking away as they were all sitting by the couch to fill the temperature of warmth. Each of their hands were grasping onto a hot cup of cocoa on a cold stormy day, small puffs of smoke were steaming from the mugs.
Most of their gazes were on the television, watching some kid's cartoons most children watching these days. The cliche slapstick jokes that would make any toddler laugh at the sight from just another character comically slamming their face head on with the wall. You switched the channel as you were the one in charge of the remote this week, as something caught your eye with one of the channels.
Ah, it was one of the hero rankings this year, making your eyes gleam with interest. Your siblings soon followed after, your siblings were busy babbling on which pro hero was the best one in line with their unique tastes, but poor you were trying to ignore the noise and their antics. But something caught the interruption of your show with a news broadcast.
"We interrupt this program with some breaking news! Creatures have been found all around the world at such an alarming rate-"
"Come onnn!" One of your siblings complained, whining as she kept banging her head by the side of the couch. "That's boring, why can't we watch something else other than that boring stu-" The poor girl was soon cut off with a raging thunder interrupting outside.
"Wah!"
"That's what you get for being such a baby, now shush! I'm trying to watch the news!" You hissed, keeping your stare at the television.
"Killjoy." She huffed, pouting.
You ignored that comment.
"These monsters are yet to be believed to be found anywhere across the world and its borders. From flying high in the sky interrupting airplanes passing by, swimming in the sea scaring tourists, or even being found anywhere around the city. Pro heroes and Police advise the public to stay away from these creatures, until the issue is resolved."
The report was followed by pictures of a shadow with its red eyes lurking behind some trees, one of them was even in the city roaming around looking like a blue bipedal jackal, and what seemed to be a bird with two heads sitting inside a cave eating berries.
"Please remain calm whenever you see those creatures and call authorities. Escape the premises whenever you see them, they are a great danger to the public."
Huh, how strange.
Most of them don't even look like they're attacking humans at all. They looked like they were strangely going on about their day as normal!
"Boringggg. How on earth would we believe this stuff? It's already obvious enough that most of these pictures are edited." One of your siblings replied, making you raise a brow.
"Why would all this be fake? It's on the news isn't it?"
"Now-now children, there's no need to fight. But your sibling's right, this situation is absolutely serious. We all need to stay safe, especially you three." The mom patted Yuu's head, making the three children pout from the indirect comment.
"-These creatures are believed to be dangerous by the sight of a human, as they would attack them in plain sight. The authorities are on the case investigating the situation at hand. Are they harmless? Are they a threat to humanity? Or is this another work of an unknown villain in the midst? This is Nazuna Kaoru reporting live fr-"
Your only thoughts instead of being afraid like the rest of your family was, is that your eyes were sparkling with amazement, they were such unique creatures that you never saw before. They looked so similar to humans, but the only difference is as if they've evolved alongside quirks! Your thoughts lingered elsewhere daydreaming to have one of those "creatures" up close to view with your own eyes.
Rizu took notice of your dazed state, bonking your head by the back of her palm, which made you snap back to reality. She raised a brow making her huff at the sight, "Wakey wakey dazey-head. You look like you're about to pass out again. Did you sleep out late reading comics again?"
Your eyes went wide, stuttering in defense. "W-Wha? Of course not!" Well, she was right about that but your thoughts lingered elsewhere!
"Really? I was certain that I saw you spacing out again when you're clearly not taking care of yourself again!"
"I am not!"
"Am too!"
"Am NOT!"
"Now now you two, this isn't the time for arguing over the news. Finish your cocoa and head off to bed. Am I clear?" Your mother interrupted another possible argument, trying to lessen the tension as her voice was soothing.
The three siblings huffed, nodding in defeat.
"Okay mom.."

The hour passed by as the three siblings went off to bed early, laying down in their separate beds in one room. You could see the walls were filled with either posters from pro heroes, scribbled coloring materials or even stickers. You were quite known for your fondness of pro heroes and their quirks, your mind babbling with the endless possibilities of those "creatures" broadcasted on television a while ago.
You were mostly spending time in your bed in complete boredom, tossing and turning uncomfortably, overthinking about the fact on what happened in the news, filled with just pure excitement about it.
Were those so-called "monsters" even harmful in the first place? Were they big? Small? Colorful to the point it would make its victim's bli- Get a hold of yourself!
"... Hey, you awake?"
You were snapped out of your thoughts as you around to see Rizu with her disheveled hair, rubbing her eyes as she yawned from exhaustion. She looked rather annoyed despite her usual and cheery demeanor, that it almost made you giggle at the sight.
"Yeah I know I look like a hot mess right now, but are you sure you're okay? You've been tossing and turning in your bed, I can't even sleep."
Your sweat dropped and mumbled an apology before turning to the other side, wrapping yourself in your blanket in attempts to stop yourself from moving so much. "Y-Yeah... Sorry about that."
"Good, now stop moving so much so I can finally get some beauty sleep!"
You couldn't help but sigh and hum to reassure your sibling. Your thoughts although, they wouldn't stop at all. They were filled with curiosity and excitement, your heart pattering by the colorful imagination you brought onto yourself.
Why would people be scared of creatures that didn't do anything at all?
