I slam my locker after I pull out my backpack and shove my computer in it. I take out my phone, my third phone this year. I see a text from my mom.
Mommy| I'm picking you up after school
How nice of her, it's supposed to be cold-ish today so I'm not surprised she wants me home after to make sure I'll get home safe and warm.
Me| Ok! See you in a second. I'm just gonna say bye to Pax first.
Mommy| Take your time sweetie, I'm not in a rush.
I shove my phone in my jacket pocket and walk over to Paxton, who is standing at their locker. "BOO!" I scream after quietly sneaking behind Paxton, making them jump. They turn around at me and smile. "Hello to you too." I laugh and lightly punch their arm. "I wanted to say bye, my mom's picking me up I guess." Paxton tsks, "Awh such a shame, I'll see you later anyways." I nod, "Wanna play Stardew later? Like when I finish the English homework?" Paxton shrugs, "Sure." I smile, "Alright, text me when you get home. I'll talk to you later." I give a little wave before walking away." I wave at Paxton before walking out of the large building and looking for my mother's car in the crowd of students.
I eventually find my mother's car and open the door to the pearly white tesla. "You decided to stand out today huh?" She looks at me and laughs. "It's a nice car and there's lots of room!" I plop into the seat and close the door, "Room for what?" I buckle my seatbelt and my mom starts the car, getting the attention of a large crowd of students, obviously surprised by the expensive car we currently sit in. "Well I decided today we would have a shopping spree! Since midterms are soon and you'll have to study a lot, I thought we could do them now before they start, like a destresser." She did have a point. I have been stressing about midterms quite a bit lately, and I do need to do something to destress myself from the big tests. "Sure, it should be fun." My mom smiles, she loves spending time with me. Especially since I'm her and dad's only kid, I always get to talk to them. "I was thinking about going to Starbucks first, then we could head to that huge mall you like to go to. I'll take you anywhere you wanna go!" I smile, I didn't expect to do anything big today, but now I am! And I get to hang out with my mom too! "Ok! Let's hurry then, you know how busy Starbucks gets some days!" Mom smiles and pulls out of the parking lot of the school.
"So how's Paxton going?" My mom suddenly asked, staring at the road. "A little bit of everything, as always." My mom nods, letting out a 'hm' sound. "They're pretty nervous for the midterms, they think they won't pass since they're 'stupid' " My mom shoots a look at me, obviously confused. "Stupid?! Really?!" I nod "That's just their confidence nowadays." Mom shakes her head. "Jeez, that poor kid..no support at home..." I nod because she's right. Paxton doesn't get much support, ever.
After about 5 minutes of waiting in a Starbucks drive-thru and another 30 minutes driving to the mall, we finally had free will to get out of the car and walk around. We walk toward the vast building. I push the heavy glass doors open, wafted by a cool breeze when I step into the large building containing stores and restaurants. "I heard Forever12 got a new delivery on clothes if you wanna go look at those?" Most of my clothes come from Forever21 or H&M, or from the occasional shoe store. "I actually need a new pair of shoes, if that's ok." My mom nods, "Of course, we can get a pair, you haven't gotten a new pair in a while, no?" I nod and start walking towards the Nike store, I already have a good pair of converse, and I obviously have combat boots, but I, unfortunately, ruined my white air Force camping this summer. I needed new ones, you know, for the occasional cute outfit.
It took a little while, but I finally found what I was looking for and walked out of the small store. We, then, finally headed over to all the other stores we were planning to go to.
After walking endlessly around huge stores and the huge building we were in, we finally decided to stop for some food. We immediately spot a Subway that didn't have a long line. We speed walk over to the Subway and stand in line, waiting for our turn. I get a text from Paxton five minutes later.

I smile to myself and put my phone back in my pocket. "Who were you texting?" My mom stares at me, confused. "Just Paxton. They needed help with the English homework, that's all." My mom nods, "What's it about?" I shrug, "Literary genres." My mom nods, "Sounds exciting." I shake my head "It really isn't, it's just boring and dumb." She laughs at my words. I don't understand what was so funny about me saying that the work I'm currently doing in English is dumb but apparently it was. "What's so funny?" My mom looks at me, "Oh nothing don't worry."
After standing around, waiting for our food to arrive, we finally got our sandwiches and were able to find a decently clean table that didn't have any soda spills or leftover trash from the person previously sitting there.

After getting back home, I sat on my bed to relax. Today had been busy. I have studied multiple times throughout the day and I walked around the mall for hours. I wanted to lay in my bed and pass out from exhaustion. I looked at my phone as it lit up and Paxton had texted me.

I put my phone on my nightstand and looked up at the ceiling. I smiled to myself. Paxton had always been so nice to me. They weren't always the smartest person, but they always treat someone with respect. It's fun hanging out with them. I stood up and walked to my closet to get some clothes for the shower that I have been longing to take.

I got out of the shower and sit on my bed. I looked at my phone to check what time it was. The time read 9:57. I put my phone back down and lay in my bed. I pulled the covers over my body and closed my eyes, trying to get a good sleep before I have to wake up for school in the morning.
