Paris, France 1950

"Papa, you always let me win croquet!" Marie pounted as her father chuckled. Her father was Theo Monet, the king of France. The lived past the city of Paris in a stunning castle, the castle had been build in the 1600's and had been pasted down generations of the Monet royal family.

"Marie, my flower" her father started, Marie looked at her father with curiosity in her eyes "You are my sweet darling, I can't do anything but let you win." he said smiled at his beautiful daughter. Marie smiled back then looked over at her mother who slyly looked up from the book she was reading. Marie's mother wasn't into the sort of games Marie and her father were into but she was content watching them play from a far.

Marie's father opened one side of his blazer and pulled out a golden pocket watch and checked the time. The pocket watch had been passed down from Marie's great grandfather, Felix Dupont.

"Marie, it's 12:30, why don't you say we go into the city and go have some afternoon tea? We can invite your mother" he chuckled pointing over to Angelia, who stood up after the remark,

"Theo, I suppose you both have your immature jokes about me!" she said grabbing her book and walking back into the castle.

Marie's father looked at Angelia leave and then looked at Marie signalling she should go to the city on her own. She understood what he meant, Marie and her father were very close and had a special bond Marie and her mother did not share.

Marie decided to walk to the city on her own, she had to go through a small wood pass, luckily for her in the sun the pass was perfectly safe, trees taking over one another fighting for dominance over the sun, the path way was rocky but Marie didn't mind, she enjoyed walking out on her own. The path had bushes of all sorts of flowers and berries, she enjoyed the smell of the flower odour dancing with one another.

She eventually arrived in the city and she gains stares from the towns people, Marie felt their eyes on her and covered her face. Poorer folk came rushing up to her asking for money and food, Marie tired to usher them away, her mother taught her to not give any of her goods to to towns people who begged at her. The towns people started grabbing onto her dress stopping her from moving and begging and crying, Marie felt a wave of fear rush over until a male voice started getting closer and closer,

"GET OFF THE PRINCESS!" The male voice shouted getting closer and louder.

Out of the distance and boy who looked to be the same age as Marie came rushing over to her holding a broom up, the towns folk saw this and started scattering away and people who weren't staring were now staring at the commotion that was happening. Marie was in a state of shock, she couldn't move, she was left standing and watching what was happening. The towns people had all left and had gone back to their daily routines, Marie was left staring at the brown haired boy who had saved her.

"Princess..?" The male voice said

Marie looked at the boy and felt warm tears for in her eyes, the boy gained a look of panic on his face. It took Marie a few minutes to gain herself again and she looked at her hero, the boy looked back and gave a small smile back to her. The town was full of people talking and the hot sun was blaring down on the city. There was some silence between Marie and the boy until the boy broke the silence;

"Princess are you okay, that must have been a nasty shock" he asked tilting his head hoping for a answer.

"You're my hero!" Marie exclaimed going to hug the boy.

The exchanged a hug that didn't last long.

The boy rubbed his hand with one hand; "Ah I wouldn't call myself a hero" he said chuckling and blushing, "What are you doing in town on your own your majesty?" he asked

"Oh!" Marie said "I am out to get afternoon tea, me and my papa were going to-- its a funny story really, my mother you see didn't particularly enjoy me and my papa's joke we made" Marie blabbered on; "So he said, well he did not say I assumed I shall go out for tea on my own"

The boy just listened and smiled and then he perked up.

"I work in a bakery, would you like to have your afternoon tea there?" he asked

Marie nodded and the two started walking deeper into the town and got to a bakery named Bread and Butter Bakery. The boy showed Marie to a seat inside that had a gorgeous view to the river running through the town.

Marie grabbed the boys wrist before he left;

"I never got your name?" Marie said looking up at the boy with innocent eyes

"Louis Blanchet." The boy smiled and left to continue his work.

Three hours later

Marie made it home after being in the town most of the afternoon. Her mother and father rushed up to her and question what happened to her, news had got out about the incident she was in, although Louis name was never mentioned in what they said. Marie told her parents she was okay and that she was going to go up to her bedroom and practice her piano. They nodded and her and her parents parted ways. As Marie was walking up the cold castle stairs she was wondering why Louis name wasn't mentioned, maybe nobody knew him but the bakery was so busy when she got there, he must be popular?

She got to her room, her room was large and had a double canopy bed in the middle on two walls, she had a desk on one side and her piano on the other, she had wardrobes and draws on the same side as her desk filled with dresses and her clothes, her draws were filled of other clothes and her desk was messy with make up and her writing equipment.

She sat at her piano stool and couldn't stop thinking about what had happened to her and what is going to happen in the future. Will she ever be able to see him again, will she ever be able to go into town on her own. She sighed at the thought of her own freedom being taken away from her. She knew her parents could be protective but she didn't think they could be over protective right?
