Marie awoke the next morning to a tap on her door. She rubbed her eyes and sat up on her bed, who could be awake at this time?
"Marie?" The voice said. It was her mother.
"Come in" Marie said in response.
Marie's mother opened her door slowly and walked into her room, Marie watched her in silence as she walked and sat on the end of her bed. Marie started at her in silence. What could she want? Not about yesterday. . .right?
"Marie, your father and I had a very long conversation last night," she started saying as she took a deep breath "We think it's best if you don't go to the town on your own, we are going to find a body guard for you" Her mother continued saying. Marie felt her heart drop, she nearly fell into tears.
"Mama? A body guard? I don't think I need one really!" Marie said to her mother. Marie's mother stood up and brushed herself down.
"I'm sorry dear but you can't change our minds. Your father and I are going into town to find you one today. You're free to come along with us" Her mother said walking to the door, "Breakfast will be in fifteen minutes." She said then exiting.
A body guard? Why would I need a body guard, I can take care of myself. . .wait! What if that boy gets to be my body guard.
Marie got out of her bed and put one of her silky pink dresses on and paired it with long white gloves, she brushed her hair and headed down stairs. The castle chef had prepared toast and fruit for breakfast. Marie sat down in the dining room with her parents. The silence was uncomfortable. Her father broke the silence by saying,
"Marie, flower, we are heading into the city later today, are you joining us?"
Marie nodded and continued eating her breakfast, her parents sighed.
"Marie Monet this is for your own good, you'll understand soon." Her mother said sternly.
"Mother, Father." Marie said stopping eating her breakfast; "I do not think I'll ever understand , I'm loosing my freedom as we speak, to be honest I lost it yesterday when I arrived back home."
Marie stood up and grabbed her breakfast; "Get a maid to knock my door when you are going into the city." she said and walked to her bedroom.
Seven hours later,
Marie was sat in her room drawing on her desk as a maid knocked the door.
"Your parents are going into the city now, they want you to meet them at the carriage very quickly." the maid said and walked off.
Marie sighed and left her room and went to the carriage. She got in the carriage and her parents were already sitting in there next to each other waiting for her, Marie sat opposite her parents and they set off to the city. The road was bumpy and the carriage was gaining heat, the ride there was silent and Marie didn't feel the need to talk to the people who stole her freedom.
They arrived at the city and the towns folk all left the roads and watched as the royal family stepped out of the carriage and headed deep into the town to find a suitable person to be Marie's body guard. As Marie's parents looked at loads of different people, Marie had her eyes on finding one person. . .Louis.
The family finally passed the bakery and Marie looked into the window and saw Louis sweeping and talking to customers. A few seconds later he looked up and saw Marie looking waved and came rushing out to see her, her parents noticed this and watched in silence.
Louis came out to Marie and she felt her heart beat quicker and quicker;
"Hey Princess!" Louis said happily.
Marie smiled "Hello Louis!" she replied.
Marie's parents looked at each other and then looked back at Marie and Louis talking.
"Boy." Marie's mother said looking at Louis, he looked at Marie's mother;
"Yes your majesty?" He replied
This was really happening, was he going to be my body guard?! No way!
"How would you like to be our daughters body guard?" Angelia asked Louis.
Louis stared at Angelia for a while, shocked at what she just asked him.
"Oh my, I would love to" He replied
Marie felt her face turn pink and butterflies form in her stomach as he said he would, her hero was going to protect her. Suddenly she knew what her parents said when they said she'd understand one day, well today was the today.
"Perfect, go pack your things. You'll be living in the castle." Angelia said
OH MY GOSH LIVING IN THE CASTLE
