Chapter 2

Adam

It has been 7 days since Jonithin found me and 6 days since we left for Widow's Peak. We are 3/4 of the way to the peak as Jonithin said after I asked him.

"When are we stopping" I asked,

"We just started so be quiet" Jonithin said.

He had been like this ever since I found a piece of black cloth in his nape sack.

When I asked him what it was he ripped it out of my hand and went to bed without a word. Ever since then he had been grumpy as ever.

"What was that piece of cloth?" I said after a long awkward silence.

"My past and nothing nmore. Now we must get to the docks before he leaves." "Before who leaves?"

"The reason why we need to hurry is we need to meet up with an old friend of mine so I can save her."

"Save who Jonithin who are we trying to save?"

"My wife, I'm trying to save my wife."

"What happened to your wife?" Jonithin told me the story of how he and his wife fought the dead to save a village, my village from eternal damnation and suffering.

"Then six weeks ago I got word from an old friend saying that he knew where Jessica was and how to get there, but I have to meet up with him before he tells me what I need to know" Jonithin finished explaining.

"Why don't you just go the way she went?" I asked.

"I tried that every time I encountered the army's of Satin, but he never comes like he use to, never comes to take villages, and never comes to the mortal world to take in his prey. Some say he's dead, others say his weak, I say that he's still trying to kill my wife because she's a tuff one I tell you, so now I'm going to strike him down with the very sword that he made to protect him and his world from enemies." Jonithin sat down because he heard me panting and saw I was about to pass out.

It was mid day when we had lunch, I used my sling and caught a raccoon, somehow Jonithin had caught 2 squirrels, 3 rabbits and a beaver and when I asked how he said that he used his bow but it was at the camp the whole time, I didn't tell him I knew this because I wanted to see how far he would bring this. He fried the racoon and made a stew with the 2 squirrels. We didn't eat the rabbits but we gutted them and skinned them, made a pouch out of the skins and saved the meat in it. How did Jonithin know so much about animals I continued to ask myself as we walked? We left our camp just after high sun and started a quick pace on the trail, Jonithin said that the trail was too dangerous to travail but now it's a race against time. We went about 2 1/2 km when we met the bandits on the road, they saw us before we knew that they where even there. There was three of them all about 6'4" and we'll armed with steal plated armed with some kind of gem melted with it because it gave of a strange green tint in the sun. One of the small one came at me while the two bigger ones took on Jonithin, I hit the stubby guy in his head with a branch. It nicked him on the head and he laid there twitching for a while. I spun to Jonithin. He is ducking and weaving around there sword's like they where children with little sticks, then Jonithin struck with a punch to the center of the chest, he was so poised and deadly yet so elegant with the movement of his body, the bandit he hit then flew back about 16 feet just to hit a tree and fell to the ground dead, Jonithin's hand broke with a loud crack. The other one dropped his sword and his coin purse and ran. Jonithin went chasing after him, the bandit was fast but Jonithin was like a cheetah in full sprint, the chase was short yet exhilarating like the first time you shoot a bow at the dear in the woods. Jonithin tackled the bandit and he hit the ground with a loud crack, I knew then his back was broken.
