Barbarais pretty famous in Monstadt and other places too but she didn't really know Fischl that well. She thought she was weird and kinda annoying, of course she would never say that though because she is a member of the church and they have to be kind to everyone. So Barbarajust put up with Fischl, they didn't really interact much so it wasn't too big a deal. Fischl on the other hand admired Barbara. She loved her singing, how she was kind to everyone, and how she wasn't afraid to be herself, which was something that Fischl had a hard time with. Fischl always wanted to befriend Barbarabut she had a feeling that Barbara didn't like her. To be fair many people didn't like her because of the way she acted, many people called her a liar and made fun of her for the way she talked and dressed. Fischl had gotten used to it at that point though because it was normal for her. She was ok with just being friends with Bennett and Razor. They were also different just like she was so she felt normal around them.
One day when Fischl was out doing a commissioning for the adventures guild, she found Barbara near Wolvendom hiding in the woods. Fischl saw Barbara and asked her what she was doing in the woods by herself. She's not apart of the Guild after all so there's no reason she would be this far out all alone. Barbaratold Fischl to be quiet and hide, she didn't really understand why but she went along with it. After a minute of standing there silently they heard footsteps coming up the path. It sounds like someone screaming Barbara's name, was someone looking for her? Fischl was curious so she peeked out from behind the tree. She recognized him, it was Albert from the Barbara fanclub. He was a real creep, Fischl would probably be hiding from him too if it was her. Fischl had an idea, she doesn't think too many things through, but she had an idea that would definitely make him leave. Fischl picked up her bow and arrow and purposefully shot at him and missed to scare him away. Fischl swears she saw him wet his pants, but he ran away screaming about how he thought he was gonna die.
Fischl found this very funny, Barbara did not. While she was thankful that Fischl scared Albert off, she told her it was dangerous to shoot arrows at humans even if you purposely miss. Fischl kinda got where Barbara was coming from, but to be fair she didn't actually hit him. Barbara didn't really want to be near Fischl too much longer before she started talking in tongues that Barbara couldn't understand. So she quickly thanked her and started walking off. Fischl asked Barbara where she was going because that's not the way back to the city. Barbara confessed to Fischl that she did not know the way back to the city. She was too busy running away to actually pay attention to where she was going.
Fischl offered to escort her back to the city because she not only knew the way back but could protect her from the wolves and monsters in the woods. Barbara, not wanting to be rude and also needing a way back home, followed Fischl all the way there. She talks a lot Barbara would think to herself. She was too busy thinking about how much Fischl talked to actually pay attention to what she was saying. After it went silent for a while Barbara got a little nervous because she thought she was asked a question but wasn't paying attention to what was being said. So Barbara started making small talk with Fischl, asking her questions about the guild, why she joined, what they do, she was just trying to be nice and not walk back silently. After Fischl was done answering questions, she wanted to ask about Barbara's music, but didn't want to come off in a bad way because she had just ran from a crazy fan. So then it became silent again. Finally after a long long silent walk back to the city, Barbara was able to get away from Fischl. She couldn't stand the way she talked to people and it was too hard for her to understand what she was saying.
Once back in the city Barbara ran into Albert again, he was yelling about how he had been shot at in the woods and he needs Barbara to heal him. Fischl wasn't too far from this so she overheard it going on. Barbara politely said that she was busy and needed to get back to the Cathedral to clean. Albert was making a scene and wouldn't let Barba leave. For some reason no one else was saying anything, so Fischl once again took it upon herself to rid Barbara of creepy Albert. Fischl started yelling at Albert about how if he really needed help he would have gone straight to the Cathedral to be healed and not have waited for Barbara to come back. While Albert was on his knees he saw that Fischl had the same bow that he saw shoot at him from the woods. He interrupted Fischl yelling at him and started screaming and telling everyone that Fischl was the one that shot at him in the woods. He made some excuse how he was just looking for Barbara in the woods because he was worried and he remembered Fischl shooting at him and him dodging it and running away. Both Barbara and Fischl knew that wasn't true but some of the crowd that had formed around them was on Alberts side. By this time both the Church and Jean had been informed of what's going on in the town center. Jean pushed through the crowd and started yelling at Albert to leave Barbara alone and to stop lying to people. The crowd, like sheep, followed Jean's wishes and started yelling at Albert and telling him to leave. Albert ran out of the crowd and out of the city. Barbara knew he was gonna be back because he always comes back to bother her. Barbara thanked Fischl again and went over to Jean to tell her what happened.
The next day Bennet and Razor were by the Barbatos statue listening to Fischl tell stories. When they all heard a high pitched scream, it hurt Razor's ears. It was coming from the Cathedral so they went to see what was going on. Turns out Albert was back with more creeps from the fan club bothering Barbara again, there weren't enough sisters there at the time to chase them all out. So Fischl ran to help along with Bennett and Razor. Fischl starts scolding the group of grown men to leave Barbara alone. Albert tells the group that that's the girl that shot at him and they all ran out as Fischl threatened to do it again. Barbara thanked Fischl again for her help. Fischl was starting to grow on Barbara, of course she still thought she was a weirdo but she wasn't as mean or scary as Barbara thought.
Later that evening Barbararan into Fischl talking to Katherine about her commissions. Barbara watched Fischl get her rewards from the adventurers guild, she then became curious on what she does with the stuff she gets. So she watched as Fischl walked over to the shop to buy some meat, walk into the cat's tail then leave, with no meat. Fischl then walked out of the gates and across the bridge. Barbara, still intrigued, wandered over to get more of a look at what Fischl was doing with her stuff. Barbara didn't realize how creepy she was actually being. She was so focused that she didn't hear Albert behind her, Albert jumped out at her causing her to fall into the side of a wagon and hit her head. It made a loud bang which caught Fischl's attention.
When she saw Barbara on the ground and Albert kneeling down she ran over to help, leaving her stuff on the ground by accident. The 2 city guards came over to help once they heard the commotion. Fischl was shooing Albert away and threatening to shoot and not miss this time while the 2 guards helped Barbara up off her feet and the other 2 went to get Jean. Albert ran off again away from Monstadat into the woods, Fischl was hoping he didn't come back. Fischl asked the guards if there was anything she could do to help. The guards tell Fischl to go run and get the sisters so they could heal her head which was bleeding at this point. Fischl ran as fast as she could to get the sisters to come help Barbara. Once the sisters were out of the Cathedral Jean had already brought Barbara to them. The sisters gave her medicine and healed her up but she was ordered by them not to do any work for a week because she still needed to rest. Barbara was in and out of sleep. Fischl offered to stay with Barbara to make sure she was ok. The sisters thanked Fischl for her help and accepted her offer.
Once Barbara woke up the next day Fischl was there sleeping on a chair next to her, she didn't really remember too much of what happened to her yesterday, so she woke up Fischl and asked her what happened. Fischl explained to her why Barbara was here and that she wasn't allowed to leave the Cathedral so the sisters could make sure she was ok. Barbara was sad about hearing the news because she was supposed to sing at the Windbloom festival that week, but if she can't leave then she won't be able to. Fischl noticed how sad Barbara looked so she told her that she was gonna stay with her and keep her company until she was better. Barbara wasn't too happy about that because she still didn't enjoy talking to Fischl, but I guess it was better than being alone with just the sisters. Barbara liked working at the Cathedral with the sisters, but they got on her nerves sometimes. Of course, Barbara never said anything to uphold her kind image.
She was still a little dizzy from when she woke up so she asked Fischl to get her some food and water. Fischl walked out of the room Barbara was in and went to get a meal for her. Barbara started thinking about how much work she's going to miss being in the Cathedral all week. She felt bad because she was unintentionally putting more work on the other sisters. Shortly Fischl came back to Barbara deep in thought sitting in bed, she looked sad. Fischl gave her the food she brought and asked her what she was thinking about. This caused a chain reaction of Barbara ranting to Fischl for about 15 minutes. Barbaradidn't even realize she had been talking so much, but Fischl listened to all of her troubles and tried to give her advice. It wasn't very helpful but Barbara appreciated her trying to make her feel better. Fischl asked her if there was anything else she wanted. Barbara said no, but she was lying. Barbara slept with a stuffed bird toy every night since it had been given to her by her father years ago. Barbara was very attached to the little plush raven, but was too embarrassed to ask Fischl to go get it for her. They sat in awkward silence for a while before Barbara asked Fischl if she had any commissions today. Fischl said she hadn't gotten the chance to go out and do them. Barbara felt bad that Fischl was going to skip her commissions today just to take care of her. Barbara told her that she didn't have to miss her commissions that day just for her and that she would be fine on her own for a little while. Fischl felt bad for leaving Barbara's side to go out for her commissions but Barbara was fine just for a couple hours while Fischl was gone.
When Fischl had arrived back at the Cathedral it was night, Fischl walked into where Barbara was only to find her asleep cuddling with a small bird toy. Fischl thought that it was cute because she also slept with stuffed animals, and it was nice to know that others did too. She sat back down on the chair in the corner of the room and shortly fell asleep. Barbara woke up before Fischl did, again, and she started writing in her journal. Barbara does this because it helps her think and process all her thoughts. Fischl had woken up later on and saw Barbara writing, she grew curious to see what it was Barbara was writing about. So she asked Barbara, who wasn't aware Fischl was awake, quickly closed the book and put it down on the side table next to her. Barbara said she was just writing down her thoughts because it helps her think. Fischl said that she occasionally writes, she never shows it to anyone but she enjoys doing it. Fischl also went on to compliment Barbara's little bird saying that it was cute. Barbara hadn't actually noticed that she had it with her, Jean must have brought it over to her yesterday. Barbara was a little embarrassed about that, but Fischl told her that she sleeps with stuffed animals too and that she doesn't need to be embarrassed.
Barbara had noticed something different about Fischl, she wasn't speaking the way she normally did. Barbara went on to point it out that she was speaking normally. Fischl hadn't even realized that she was doing it. She usually didn't speak fancy in the mornings because it was just her and Oz but now that Barbara was here she had to make sure she didn't slip up. Barbara mentioned how she liked the sound of Fischl's normal speaking voice, she found it very calming. No one had ever really complemented Fischl in a way like that before. Although Fischl enjoyed role playing occasionally it would get a little tiring to do all the time. Barbara started thinking about why Fischl does it, so she asked. Fischl didn't really want to share with Barbaraher real reason for doing it so she just told her that she thought it was a fun thing to do. The room went quiet for a minute until Barbara looked out the window to see that it was around noon. Barbara said to Fischl that if she wanted to do her commissions she should go now so she can get back before dark.
So Fischl left, while she was out in the woods she stumbled upon someone rummaging through the bushes. She slowed down and was quiet so she could observe them. It was Albert, once she realized she couldn't care less what he was doing and went on with her business. She couldn't understand why he was such a creep to Barbara. Sometimes she's a little glad that she's weird so that she doesn't have to deal with people like him. She thought Jean should just kick him out of the city or put him in jail. Fischl was busy in thought, so she didn't realize Albert had seen her and started to follow. Oz had noticed him but before he could say anything Albert jumped out from behind a bush and nicked Fischl to the ground. Fischl was really confused and angry because now she was dirty and her knees were bleeding. She turned around and screamed at him asking why he did that. He said it was to get back at her for almost shooting him and making Barbarahate him. She got into an argument with him saying that Barbaranever liked him in the first place and just to leave her alone. The argument continued until Oz convinced Fischl to just leave because it was late and they still weren't done. Fischl hadn't even realized how long they had been fighting with each other for. She still had one commission left.
By the time she got back to Barbarait was sunset. She walked in forgetting how dirty she was and how she had both knees. When she walked in the room Barbara saw her and asked what had happened. Fischl didn't want to worry Barbaraso she lied by saying she tripped and fell. Barbaratold her that she would heal her, Fischl was confused for a second because she totally forgot Barbarahad a vision. Barbaraquickly used her healing abilities to fix Fischl's knees and in doing so she also ended up washing most of the dirt from her as well. Fischl thanked Barbaraand sat on the ground because she was wet now and didn't want to sit in the cushioned chair. Fischl realized that Barbarahad a book sitting next to her; she had been reading it when Fischl opened the door. Fischl told Barbarathat she had read that book and that it was really good. Barbaradidn't think Fischl was the type to read romance books but she was glad they had something in common. Fischl offered to read the story to her because she enjoyed it and wouldn't mind reading it again. Barbarathought it was sweet of her to offer and she said that she wouldn't mind listening to her read. While Barbarawas listening to Fischl she had realized that she wasn't speaking in her fancy accent anymore. She didn't say anything about it though because she enjoyed listening to her voice.
She was watching Fischl as she read and started to notice how pretty and detailed her outfit was. Now that she is actually hanging out with Fischl she's realizing how rude it was of her to think she was weird when she had never really met her before. She was also just now noticing how pretty Fischl was as well. The dark colors of her outfit complemented Fischl's eyes and hair very well. She was really sweet too, Barbarathought that she was gonna be scary, but she's been really the only one treating her normal. Other than Jean Keya and Lisa, she was the only one who saw her as a normal person. Not the head of the Church or a Popstar, just a normal person. She liked Fischl because of it. Once she realized what she was thinking she immediately stopped. She had never had these thoughts about anyone else let alone a girl. The books she read had always been a boy and a girl, never a girl and a girl, so the topic was a little foreign to her. She didn't actually think she liked Fischl in that way anyways because they don't know each other very well yet. Plus there were tons of pretty girls in Monstadt, she didn't think about them how she thought about Fischl though.
By this point Barbarawas tired because of how late it was, she hadn't actually thought about it before but she noticed how rude it was that Fischl had to sleep in a chair when Barbarahad a big bed to herself. She asked Fischl if she was comfortable sleeping in a chair all night. Fischl said that it was a little uncomfortable but it was fine. Barbarafelt bad still, so she got up to grab a cot that the church had for people who stayed there while in their care. Fischl followed her to make sure she didn't hurt herself because she was still ordered to bed rest. She watched as Barbaradragged the cot back to her room and set it up on the floor next to her bed. Fischl was surprised she had done that for her because she was still under the impression that Barbarawasn't too fond of her. Fischl stood there and thanked Barbaraand sat down on the cot. Fischl had continued to read to Barbarauntil she looked up and noticed she was asleep. Fischl had already thought kind of highly of Fischl before but now that she was actually talking with her she realized how similar they were. Fischl had thought they were completely opposites but they actually get along well. Fischl ended up falling asleep thinking about Barbara.
Fischl had woken up before Barbarathe next morning and the sun was barely visible, Barbarahad been waking up around noon so Fischl had some time to do things. She walked down to Katherine to get her commissions for that day and thought she could start them early so she could get back before Barbarawoke up. Once she was done it was around 11 am so she walked to her house to grab some extra clothes and stuff to bring to the Cathedral so she didn't have to walk back and forth every time she wanted to change. On her way back to the Church she stopped at Lisa's to pick up the next installment of the book she had been reading for Barbara. Fischl actually hadn't read the next book so she was excited to read it with Barbara.
Once she got back she walked into Barbarawriting in her journal again. As soon as the door shut behind Fischl, Barbaraclosed the book fast and put it down next to her. She really didn't want Fischl seeing what was in that book. Barbaraasked Fischl where she had been and she said she was out doing her commissions and that she had also borrowed the second book from Lisa's library. The girls spent all of their days reading. Fischl would read out loud to Barbarawhile she silently listened and admired Fischl. Barbarastarted to wonder why Fischl was spending all her time with her instead of being with Bennett and Razor. Was she really just that nice? She thought about asking her but didn't want it to come off as her not wanting Fischl around. She really did like Fischl being there, and just her in general. She had even begun to enjoy the way Fischl spoke. She thought that way she would explain and address such mundane things was funny and it would make her laugh. Sometimes Fischl would say things weird on purpose just to make Barbarasmile. They really enjoyed each other's company, Fischl would come back from her commissions and tell Barbarawhat she had done that day. Barbarawould sometimes hear the sisters outside gossiping to each other and would tell Fischl all about what she heard.
One night Barbara hadgotten a horrible headache and the sisters were doing everything they could to help her. Barbarawas having trouble relaxing, and she couldn't sleep because of how uncomfortable she was. She wasn't really thinking straight and asked Fischl to come up on the bed and sit with her, Barbaraended up falling asleep listening to Fischl read to her again. Fischl didn't want to move and wake Barbara because of how long it took her to get to sleep so she just slept there for the night. When Barbarawoke up the next day to Fischl sleeping next to her she felt really happy to see her there with her. She wasn't sure why that day in particular she was more excited to see her. Barbarabegan to question how she felt about Fischl, she compared her feelings to the people in the books she read. She didn't want to think that she had developed a crush on Fischl in such a short amount of time. She wasn't really even sure if that's what that was, she didn't know if girls could like each other like that. Then she thought about the way Jean and Lisa acted with each other and was assured that girls can definitely like each other like that. She was in denial about her feelings, not only because she was unsure of them but also because she had overheard a few of the sisters talking about how weird Jean and Lisa's relationship was with each other.
Barbaradecided to write all her feelings in her journal so she could really think them through. She reached over to the side table and grabbed the book and started writing. Fischl woke up soon after and watched as Barbarawrote down what she was thinking. Fischl read as Barbarawas writing, she was not expecting Barbarato be writing about her in such a way. Once Barbarawas done Fischl quickly shut her eyes to pretend to be asleep. Fischl waited until Barbaragot up to go get food from the sisters to open her eyes again. She didn't know how to feel. Fischl knew she liked guys and girls but she had never ever had her feelings reciprocated. She also never would have guessed that Barbarawould like her that way. She liked Barbaratoo but from what she read it seemed as if Barbarawas still a little confused about herself.
Just then Barbarawalked in with food for herself and Fischl, they sat and ate together on the bed while talking about the dreams they had last night. Fischl didn't want to bring up what she had seen because she didn't want to make it awkward. She kinda wished that she hadn't faked sleeping so it was easier to bring up in conversation. Fischl did feel bad though for reading something that was supposed to be private. Fischl had the idea of apologizing to her for reading her journal and then bringing it up in conversation. She thought that was a good idea so that's what she did. Barbara, after hearing that Fischl had seen what she wrote, turned bright pink and put her hands in her face. Fischl kind of expected her to be embarrassed about it as she got embarrassed extremely easily, but not like this. Barbarafelt like crying and screaming into her pillow but she couldn't so she just held back her tears. Fischl told her that she didn't have to be embarrassed about what she thought of her because she felt the same. Barbara's head shots up from her hands. Fischl noticed the tears that had formed in her eyes and felt even worse for reading Barbara's journal. Barbarawithout even thinking pulls Fischl in for a kiss and she kisses back. Neither of them had ever kissed anyone before, they had never experienced anything like what they had just gone through. They didn't really know what to do now, they sat there for a minute before Barbaraasked if Fischl could read to her, Fischl picked up the book from her side table and started reading as Barbarasnuggled up closer to her. They had spent all day together. Fischl had even skipped her commissions that day because she just wanted to stay there with Barbara. They read all day and all night until the early morning when they fell asleep next to each other.
Today was the last day that Barbarawas supposed to stay in the Cathedral, after that she was supposed to return to her duties as a deaconess. They both had woken up late that day around 2pm neither of them wanted to get up and do anything, they just wanted to stay by each other all day. Barbaraasked if she could go with Fischl on her commissions for that day. Fischl wasn't sure if it was a good idea to bring her with because she wasn't used to fighting things. Barbaradidn't want to be away from Fischl at that time, so she suggested that they go enjoy the Windblume festival together. Barbarahad completely forgotten about it, but she thought it was a great idea because today was the last day and they were going to shoot fireworks in the sky late at night.
They spent the rest of the day together at the festival playing games and walking around. At the end of the day there was a fireworks show and they wanted to go see them. However there were so many people there that they would barely be able to see them. Barbarahad an idea. There was a spot on top of the cathedral where they could sit and see the whole city from, she suggested that they go up to the top to watch the sunset and the fireworks. Sitting there together was a very happy moment for them. They were both upset in the back of their heads that they wouldn't be able to spend every day like this but it didn't matter just then.
After that day whenever they had the free time they would always be with each other. Whether it was Fischl BarbaraBennett and Razor or just the two of them. They always had the best time whenever they were together. Fischl started bringing Barbarawith her on commissions when she had the time to go. Whenever Fischl got hurt Barbara Would be there to heal her. Both Fischl and Barbaratried to keep their relationship a secret from the church because of some of the things the sisters had said about Jean and Lisa. Since Fischl and Barbara Were always together, she didn't have to worry about Albert bothering her anymore. Albert was still scared of Fischl so he stayed away from them. Barbaranever told Jean directly that she and Fischl were dating but she figured it out. Jean was upset that Barbaradidn't really have too many close friends, but now that she has Fischl she hangs out with Bennett and Razor which makes her feel better. Sometimes they joke about how them dating each other was all thanks to Albert, even though he was a creep they probably wouldn't have spoken to each other if it wasn't for him.
