Cara's POV

I picked out the final item of clothing from my huge wardrobe and placed it in my packed suitcase. I still don't understand how everything fit inside. I have no idea. Tomorrow was going to be amazing. My best friend Vicki and I were to start our road trip to California. We both live in Idaho which is about 14 hours from California.

Our mission: Drive the whole way!

Just then, I heard the doorbell ring and ran downstairs to answer it. I pulled the door open to reveal a delighted Vicki standing at the door.

"Cara, tomorrow's the day!" She squealed, embracing me in a tight squeeze and welcoming herself inside.

We both jumped and screamed excitedly. Vicki and I had been planning this trip for months, just so everything would be perfect. Everything will be perfect.

"Let's go to your room, I have stuff to tell you about tomorrow." Vicki said, flicking her shoes off and making her way upstairs to my room. I followed her up and closed the door behind me.

As we sat down on my bed, the look on Vicki's face was priceless. She looked like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

"What?!" I exclaimed, the suspense literally killing me.

"Okay so, you know how we were gonna rent a car for the summer?"

"Yeah, we saved up enough money and everythin-"

"My dad said we could use his Jeep!"

I gasped loudly at the news, squealing once again. Now everything was really perfect.

I pulled out our map from the top drawer of my dressing table and flattened it out on my bed, then going over to my desk, I grabbed a black permanent marker. I went back over to Vicki, threw the pen at her and said, 'What route are we gonna take?'

Vicki opened the lid and a fume of nail varnish comes out. I immediately covered my nose and mouth with the end of my khaki jumper. I sat down again and we began to double check our route and yep, that's it! Our trip will be legendary. I grabbed my phone and checked the time.

It has just turned 5pm. "D'ya want to sleep over?" I asked Vicki, making her nod excitedly and dial her mom's number on her phone. She went out of the room to talk to her mom while I grabbed my laptop and opened up Netflix.

"She said she'll bring my stuff here soon..." Vicki smiled, flopping on the bed. She went to get popcorn & Hershey's from the kitchen. I clicked on our favourite show ' Pretty Little Liars'. It was a coincidence that we were both on the same episode, so i got comfortable and waited for Vicki to return. She came in with a huge bowl of sweet & salted popcorn, my favourite! And a bag of Hershey's Kisses.

We watched about 3 episodes and then got into our pajamas (Vicki's mum had brought over her clothes by then). I got out the face masks Vicki's mum had brought with her earlier and handed one to Vicki. It read, "Green Tea Soothing Face Mask", I ripped the seal and applied it to my face as the instructions read. While we waited for the facemasks to dry we listened to our favourite songs.

We had a specific playlist on spotify for our road trip. Every time I looked at it, I got butterflies in my stomach, which made me even more excited for this road trip. We were both so determined to make this trip the best experience of our life's. We had planned it right down to the second.
