mother was laying on her bed, her hand tightly holding onto mine. tears slowing falling down both our faces as we stayed in silence enjoying the last few moments we have together.
Hearing shouts and cries outside getting more louder every second. my heart beating faster, as the thought of someone bursting through the door and ending it for both of us.
this all started because our kingdom thought my mother was a witch. Rumors spread quickly, soon most believed that they were true.
the people started to protest, wanting my mother to be hanged or thrown down a well, all because of the said rumors.
another kingdom decided to raid us today, and our own people joined in on it. their main goal was to kill my mother, and sadly they succeeded by shooting a poisoned arrow into my moms hip.
before things got out of hand she managed to drag me into our safe room before I got hurt as well, which leads us to now.
her grip slowly turned more gentle as she struggled to keep her eyes open. the bottom half of her dress being covered in her own blood, grinding her teeth together to try ease out the pain.
she let go of my hand to take of the pendant she had across her neck.
"Even though I won't physically be with you, i will mentally." she stuttered as she gave me her glowing pendant. a faint smile grew on her face as I put it on.
"Please don't go." I mumble in between heavy breathes.
"I'll always be with you. Here." She pointed at the pendant before grabbing hold of my hand again. dark circles around her eyes, messy hair and bloody clothes. she still looked so beautiful as the moonlight came in through the window.
"I love you ,mother." I cry out to her. my head muzzled into the side of her.
she didn't respond, instead I hear her breaths go softer until I hear them no more. I look up at her and see her eyes closed with a tear still falling down her face.
she was gone.
I sit down on the floor next to the bed, the cries and screams getting louder now that there was nothing to distract me from them.
I hear bangs on the door, I freeze up hearing a man on the other side speaking to another,
"They're both in here, get it open." the man shouts.
my heart seems to be beating out of its chest, fear is only an understatement for how I felt. I was gonna die, not even being able to live my life.
I stayed put and watch the door intensely, hearing the men outside try to get in.
the door was built from metal, only being able to be opened by a key which was with my mother. the only way I was gonna get out was through the window, a three story drop.
I get up and hover over to the window and open it. sticking my head out to see the ground to be filled with men brutally murdering each other. guards of the kingdom sacrificing their life to protect me and my family against our own people.
looking at my now life less mother, I promised myself that I won't let the knights work go in vain anymore that it did.
Just as I get ready to climb out the window, a loud bang was made from behind me, making me fall back to the ground.
I jolt my head back to see that the door was fully blown out and a huge whole was made in the middle of it. Seeing a man make his way through the now broken door.
I freeze up as I finally get a good look at the man in front of me.
Pink-ish tan skin, crimson hair and blood red eyes, his clothes were stained with blood and a evil grin across his face.
"You wouldn't know all the work I did to get to you." The man said to me while walking towards me in a slow pace, dropping his grin.
"p-please.." Was the only word I could manage to say, hands shaking in fear and tears daring to fall down my face.
He didnt respond, instead looked at my mother on the bed, dead. He stared at her from head to toe almost admiring her, caressing her lifeless face.
"She was surely beautiful. It was always a matter of time before it came to this, a shame you had to witness it though." He almost laughed
"My mother wasn't a witch though, someone wanted her dead, made up the rumors wishing for her downfall." I try to say in a stern voice but it came out as a loud whisper.
"Oh but she was. the most beautiful witch I've ever-"
"Someone. made. up. rumors!"
"That someone was me! I was inlove with her, I couldnt bare to see her with some filthy water tribe King. I decided to make everyone turn on her, and the only person she would've run to was me. Your kingdom took the rumors more serious than I intended."
He walked closer and leaned down to be eye-to-eye with me and said,
"I knew your mother for over two decades, she isn't this perfect picture she painted of herself. You think I would fall for some low-life village girl? She was dangerous, captivating in every and all ways, that's what I fell for, that's who I fell for."
He stood back up and looked down at me with near to no emotion.
"She was my whole world but every since your father came in the picture, she wanted to change 'for the better'. All because of him. She turned her life away and shoved it into a box, leaving me inside it as well."
"S-she.. she wouldn't-"
"Did it every register to you that she wanted to seem perfect before everyone. She always kept secrets, even from me, even from her own daughter."
I was shook, I didnt know if this was true or not. The man that started everything, the man that killed my mother was right in front of me and all I could do was stare in fear.
Tears now uncontrollably falling down my face, I decided to just accept that I was going to die, atleast it was beside my mother.
I hear him sheath his sword and get ready to finish me off with one swing. I tightly close my eyes hearing him come toward me.
"I'll make it quick." He slightly chuckled in a low voice, loud enough for me to hear.
I hear him swing his sword in the air but hesitated for a few seconds.
That's when I hear someone shout inaudible words from the hallway. I quickly open my eyes,
"Alzena!" My father shouts again from the other side of the wall, he quickly shuffled through the broken down door ,before seeing the man who was about to end my life.
His hair was messed up and had a wound on his leg, his royal clothes were covered in other people's blood.
The man in front of me swang his sword quickly at my head, my father ran towards us and tried his best to move the killers sword away before I get hit.
that's when I felt excruciating pain on my lower chest to my stomach.
My father managed to shift the mans sword away from my head, but instead slashing into my upper abdomen.
I scream out in agony, clenching every muscle in my body as I try to ease out the pain,
my mind goes blank, and my vision becomes blurry, only being able to see the two men fight eachother mercilessly,
my eyes flicker wanting the pain to leave already, even if that meant my life ending in the process.
I slowly began to loose consciousness and the pain gradually becomes manageable,
I use the remaining energy I have to look at my mother and smile,
"See you soon."
