"What?"Looking at his most confused face ever, Jisung sighed.
Then, ever so slowly, he repeated.
"I said - let's break up."
He always knew Chenle was soft- hearted. He was sentimental - too sentimental if Jisung must say. He was the type to cry along with you if you told him your fish died.
In the four years that they had been together, Jisung had experienced Chenle's rollercoaster of emotions and so, he had always felt responsible to try and make him happy.
But not anymore.
"Why - why? Did I do something wrong?"
His voice sounded vulnerable at its peak.
"I'm sorry. I guess, I've just fallen out of that phase."
Jisung replied with a shrug.
If Chenle had looked sad until then, his expressions changed to anger at that moment.
"Phase?" , He repeated in disbelief.
"You call our love a phase?"
'Your love.'
Jisung wanted to say, but he bit his tongue. He didn't intend to end things with him on a bad note.
After all, Chenle was still Jisung's best friend.
"Look Chenle, you're going out of the main point. All I'm saying is whatever we had was nice , but it was all that it was."
He thought he was alright - he was fine saying all this - but he couldn't look at the pale skinned boy infront of him. He said all he wanted without taking a single glance at his eyes.
There was silence for a while, before a heavy sigh resonated through the cafe.
'Thank God.'
Jisung thought. He didn't know what he'd do if Chenle had cried.
The thing though was - Chenle 'was' crying but he ate up his sobs. He wouldn't let his tears show. No. Instead, he let out a sigh.
" I can't refuse you, you know that."
Their eyes met.
" I'm grateful for all the memories. And I'm sorry that I couldn't give you any reason to love me anymore -"
"Chenle-"
" - but just so you know, I don't regret any of it and I would never hate you for anything. I hope you find love and happiness, Ji."
And then it happened.
Chenle smiled brightly, with tear-stained crinkly eyes, the same smile Jisung fell for the first time.
For a second, he felt that emotion bubbling inside him once again.
"Goodbye."
As the windchimes clinked with the closing of the door, Jisung felt a sense of longing.
He was the one to call things off but despite that, he felt himself lose a part of him.
'I'll buy a beautiful cabin exclusively for us, where I'd cook for you when you come back home from work!'
He remembered Chenle's voice filled with excitement as he lost himself in his imagination.
'So you won't go to work?'
