"Sometimes the harshest words hide the deepest fears."
🌈 Author's POV:
A week had passed since Y/N and Taehyung had begun sharing the same bench, settling into a quiet but unmistakable rhythm. They rarely spoke unless necessary, but the air between them was charged, each acutely aware of the other's presence.
One afternoon, when Y/N was at her locker, humming to herself as she rummaged for her books. Her shirt lifted slightly when she tried getting the books out, revealing a hint of her waist, but she was too absorbed to notice the group of guys nearby, their gazes lingering far too long.
Taehyung happened to pass by just then, his eyes naturally drawn to Y/N's serene face as she hummed softly. But his admiration quickly shifted to anger as he noticed the guys nearby, their smirks and shameless stares directed at her.
"Check her out," one muttered, nudging his friend. "Bet she'd look even better out of that outfit..."
The words ignited something in Taehyung, his fists clenching as his gaze darkened. Without thinking, he strode over, his calm demeanor replaced by a storm of fury.
The group looked up, momentarily caught off guard by Taehyung's intense glare. One of them attempted a weak laugh, shifting uncomfortably. "Chill, man. We were just—"
They were totally intimidated but didn't let it show. They knew for a fact that Taehyung didn't meddle with anyone's business but when he did, it meant you've messed up pretty bad. Taehyung never got involved in fights but when he did, he never lost.
Before the guys could comprehend how terribly screwed, they were, Taehyung grabbed their leader with the scruff of his shirt with his two minions trailing behind nervously, into an empty hallway. He didn't wait for another second and started beating them with no mercy whatsoever. His fists flying in controlled but relentless rage, each blow delivering the message he wanted to send, loud and clear.
"Don't you dare disrespect any girl again," he growled, his voice as cold as his gaze. "And stay away from Y/n." Each word was laced with venom, leaving the group shaken and bloodied as he released them with one final shove.
Breathing heavily, Taehyung straightened his jacket and turned back to find Y/N, who was still at her locker, blissfully unaware of what had just happened. He approached her, carefully draping his jacket over her shoulders.
She was so engrossed that she didn't even acknowledge his presence until she felt something warm and familiar draped over her shoulders. Startled, she looked up to see Taehyung, his jacket now around her. Her heart raced at the sudden closeness; her stomach exploded in butterflies as his breath was brushing her cheek. "Taehyung ---" she whispered, cheeks flushing from surprise and something deeper.
Already fazed by all that was happening Y/n gathered up some courage and lifted her gaze through her thick and long eyelashes only to be met with Taehyung's fierce one. His eyes flashed with rage and fear at the same time. Before she could process what was happening, Taehyung had her pinned against the lockers, his arms braced on either side of her, his face unreadable.
"Is this really what you wear to school?" he said, his voice cutting sharper than he intended. "Are you here to seek attention or knowledge?"
The harshness of his words cut deep, turning her elation into a painful twist. Why is he being so harsh? She dropped her gaze, fighting back the sting of tears. All she had wanted was to get through the day unnoticed; instead, she was met with his disapproval. She had no words, no defense against the hurt he'd struck in her.
