As I approach the library desk with my books after school, I deliberately go over to the cube desks as I don't want to sit next to Max. I take a seat at the very end one in the corner. I open up my books and wait.
*5 minutes later*
"Hey, Angie!" Max said.
He had never said something so casual to me before, he has always been so uptight, clearly, he has changed too. He takes a sit in the cube next to me.
"Alright, your mother told me that we needed to work on algebra?" He said flicking through the textbook and trying to find the correct page.
"Yeah..." I said, I couldn't take my eyes off him, he had changed so much and I didn't realize it until now.
I turn my head to the door as I saw someone walk in, no one comes to the library after school unless they are tutoring or being tutored. I was shocked to see who it was, he walked over to us.
"Your mother asked me to pick you up from school since she is working late." He said.
"It's only 3:15, I get picked up at 3:45 Louis," I say looking up at him and feeling guilty that he came all this way.
"It is alright, I might be able to help you with this stuff anyways," He grabbed a chair and pulled it next to me.
"Uhm, sorry to make this awkward, but I am tutoring her," Max said with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
"Ah! I'm sorry, my name is Louis, what is yours?" Louis said with a bit of a smirk on his face.
"I uh, my name is Max," Max said looking down at his book and fidgeting with it.
Max and I are the same age although Louis is older than us by two years which makes him 17.
Louis then stands up and moves the chair in the middle of both of us. I felt comfortable with Louis here, Max is weird, and I don't like being near him. I look at Max and realize that he had a nervous look in his eyes. It was weird.
*15 minutes later*
"Ugh, I can't get this one question!" I said whisper shouting it.
"Here, let me help," Louis said as he stood up.
He when behind me and leaned over my shoulder. A bubbly feeling filled my stomach. I could feel the blush creeping down my face. Our faces were so close to each other. I looked over to Max and he was looking at me, I gave the 'help me' look I always give to my friends, and somehow he knew what I meant.
Plop
"Here, let me get that for you," Louis said bending down to pick it up, he was like a knight in shining armor here to help everyone.
"Thanks," Max said as Louis put it on his desk, I looked back down at my worksheet and I heard Max whispering something to Louis. I wondered what he said
*15 minutes later*
"Alright, thanks for helping me Max," I said while packing my books up as fast as I can to get out of there.
"No problem," Max said as he gently closed his textbook.
I grabbed Louis by the wrist and drag him out of the Library.
"Now that was boring." I moaned.
"Really? Max is sweet, I don't see how he is weird." Louis replied looking at his phone.
"Why would he offer to help tutor me, there is no point since I am going to fail anyways," I said swinging my bag around and opening the back pocket.
"Maybe he just likes you?" Louis replied looking up at me.
