you truly are the father of the year,
your vision is tainted red
since you invite red flags into our home
who hide their daggers with a smile
and i understand you always shut your
eyes
when they stabbed us
that's why you never noticed the bleeding, right father?
your words are sharp, i should know,
they've cut me many times.
and to fill the void of your empty love
i found myself entangled
with people who act as you do
and they all left me too.
they found someone who shines brighter
sounds a lot like you, father.
your nails are jagged,
they puncture my lungs,
the only way i can breathe
is by pleading for your forgiveness,
i didn't mean to upset you father
i won't do this again i swear.
but you are father of the year
because my tears are wiped away
and screams for help are silenced
by the adults telling me
you're a great father
what do i know, i'm just a teenager
