"I'm screwed."
I kept telling myself. I was still is that damned bathroom stall. But hey, at least the screams calmed down. I started to get up and dust myself off when I heard a bang on the bathroom door.
Another bang.
And then the door was open.
I might've just given up if I didn't hear an actual voice.
It sounded like a girls, but there must have been someone else with her.
I opened the stall to find a tall blonde girl staring me down, with a taller guy next to her.
The first question out of her mouth was, "Were you bitten."
It didn't really sound like a question, but I still shook my head no.
She looked to the guy next to her, and pulled a gun from behind her back.
"Name." She said.
"Ummm, Kentarō Kyoutani.." I responded, trying to make sense of everything.
"Good, the monsters don't remember anything." She added on, putting her gun down so it was pointed towards the floor.
"Hello, I'm Satō Luna, this is my buddy, Thomas Cook."
—Time Skip: 4 hours—
I looked up to the sky, it was almost pitch black, and I had no idea where we were going. The Luna girl said that she couldn't reveal anything about it, but we have been walking for hours just to get to a certain place.
We were in the middle of no where, with empty cars lining the streets. Some maybe had people in them, but we were too cautions to check.
As we kept walking, me behind Luna and in front of Thomas, I tried to keep myself busy. Like how the rocks on the ground poked through my stupid expensive shoes.
And how the air felt cold because I wore a stupid tux. And how dark it looked because I didn't bring a stupid flashlight.
And how the screaming was so loud because-
Screaming? Who would be screaming?
At first I thought I was the only one who heard it, till I turned around and saw that Thomas had a gun out. Luna had her hands down to her sides, but she's been holding her gun in a way that seems like she's ready to open fire any second, so it's not too strange.
As they continue walking, the screaming gets louder. Almost to a point of ear shattering. And then it cuts off, just as quickly as it had started.
I raised my eyebrow when Luna looked back at me, and she only smirked back. Strange. But it didn't matter, because the next thing I know the screaming is starting up again.
I look around, and we're still on a highway, so there is no place someone could really hide unless it was inside or behind a car.
Until the group took a sharp left and ended up walking through the woods, straight to the sounds of screaming.
It's not like I was prepared for anything, but the amount of adrenaline I felt then made me feel like I could do anything.
I took a deep breath, and I ran to the right.
I could hear Thomas and Luna calling after me, but their voices drained away and all that was left was the sound of my own heart beating.
I didn't know where I was going, really. But I just kept running and running for what felt like hours until I found myself face to face with the school gate.
I don't really understand why, but I needed to be here.
I rushed the gate and found that it had never been locked. I ignored that small detail and walked towards the front entrance.
I could hear honking, and sirens. But I payed them no mind.
I pushed open the doors to find the lights out and the hallways emptied. The only movement was an ant crawling across the doorway.
I considered turning around, but I just kept moving. I found myself soon in the cafeteria, also left empty. I grabbed a few abandoned backpacks and emptied them of everything.
Except the water bottles, I kept those on hand.
I pushed my way through overturned chairs. Seems that a study group had been here after school.
I walked through the doors that separated the cafeteria from the kitchen and found myself looking at sections of ready to eat meals.
I felt pure joy for a slept second before I very quickly (and carefully of course) stuffed the two bags full of food. I filled them until I couldn't.
Then I went up and refilled the bottles.
I grabbed a bag of food before rushing out. I headed over to the janitors closet.
It was locked, so I had to force it opened. Which kinda shucked.
I opened the door and found myself face to face with all the cleaning supplies one could imagine. And a beautiful pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
I don't smoke, but those might come in handy. So I grabbed the cigarettes and lighter, as well as two bottles of cleaner. I stuck the bottles in the open side pockets of the bags. And I made my way outside.
It was extremely dark by the time I got out. And quiet.
I did however see a light flashing on and off. And it was in my direction.
It wasn't too far. And why would they be trying to get my attention anyway?
So I walked towards it (smart right, I should be dead by now).
And I found myself in front of a washed out home, a fortified front yard, and two men standing in front of it.
They both stiffened their shoulders.
Later on, I would learn that their names were Takanobu Aone and Futakuchi Kenji.
The two "best friends" who help me and so many others save the world.
