You lie there half dead. Faint words could be heard such as "is he gonna make it?" "oh gods, oh gods...". But the few that wake you are "PISSIN FUCK*crash*"
Au: What the hells going on?
Arniel stands next to Johan who both look like they're looking at a ghost.
Ar: You're alive, thank the gods.
Au: What happened...WHERES THE WITCHER?!?
Jo: Gone sadly, whole kingdoms in disarray. Listen we need your help.
Au: What? Whats goin on?
General Kenli comes in.
Gk: M'lord we need to discuss some things and i heard you had awoke.
After a mild checkup you get up and follow the General to the war room.
Au: What're we doing here?
Gk: Sir i'm afraid your our King now.
It hits you that with your brother and your father dead you are now the sole heir to the throne.
Au:...shit...
Gk: Sir, I'm sorry to drop all this on you now but we don't have much time. I brought you here because we're getting reports of Nilfgard movement along the Lyria border. Kaedwen will also be in trouble soon as Radovid seems to be inching over to them.
You look at the map and think. You don't have enough people to defend Lyria and Radovid probably won't listen to you. He's gone off the deep end if he's gunning for Kaedwen. But you can't just abandon them.
Au: How much time to i have to decide what to do before its too late?
Go: A day, maybe 2. Sir i would recommend answering as soon as possible.
Au: You'll have an answer by tomorrow.
You leave the room and head over to where Arniel and Johan are.
Au: I need to get to my laboratory, now.
You all ride for a cave outside the castle limits. A large mountain side faces you. You quickly walk up and dispel the illusion revealing an expansive workspace.
Ar: Soooo this is where you summon demons?
Au: Not usually, depends on if i need them.
Jo: I'm gonna pretend thats a joke.
You load what look like blue hued metal plates into an odd apparatus.
Jo: Is that meteorite ingot?
Au:*silent*
Ar: Never seen that much at once.
After which you start a different machine while you gather papers and baubles. Arniel gets a closer look at the 2nd machine and sees a sort of template inside. A mask of some sorts. You stop and stare at sword on the wall. You walk over to it taking it in your hands. You begin hooking it onto your back
Ar: Uhm Auri? you already have one on. Why do you need two?
Jo: Wait, is that...
Au: Its Anya's...It's Rhon
Arniel and Johan go silent while you keep packing. You walk over to the machine with dimeritium in your hand. You begin pounding it into powder. Fine enough to look like sand but jagged enough to melt properly.
Ar: Ay um, need any help? Maybe a hand?*gestures to a linen wrapped arm*
Au: Really? Now?
You pour the powder into the apperatus. Soon a large hiss sounds. You open it to reveal a large number of pieces. The second device breaks open. A mask glowing bright orange sits there, you quickly grab it and quench it in the water bucket nearby. Pulling it out and setting it on the table. You sit on the opposite side assembling pieces into a sort of device, casting wards and spells as you go.
Au: You guys might wanna take a seat this is gonna be a minute.
Arniel and Johan sit there talking
Ar: You really think Nilfgard is gonna invade. Cause not to be insensitive and the like the idea of wearing black. Makes me look slimmer
Jo: I more of prefer a good deep red or green.
As they converse you finish the device. A makeshift arm made of meteorite to help channel magic making it more powerful, with a pure dimeritium inlay that on command can disrupt any nearby magic. Now comes the hard part.
Au: Guys...
They turn to look.
Au: This is gonna hurt ok but don't worry ok?
They look concerned but nod anyway, trusting you. You remove the bandages and fasten the arm to you. You wave you right hand about casting a spell. The metal begins melting into your arm. The pain is visceral but you need to do this. By the end you're shaking the pain lasted a good bit after that.
Ar/Jo: Are you alright? That looked like it hurt bad?
Au: Yes. Just gotta let it adjust.
Moments later the arm began moving with fluidity identical to a real arm. You stand up with a iron ingot in hand then with one stroke you crush the ingot to shards.
Ar: What. The. Fuck.
Jo: My thoughts exactly. What was that?
Au: The answer. Meet me outside by the horses.
An hour passes when you emerge from the cave. You're donned in a mask of dimeritium, knight robes with metal plates underneath, your family crest centers your chest, And gloves to cover your hands with only the right being armored.
Au: Lets go. We gotta figure this out.
You and your trusted council ride for the castle. When you arrive the General is in the war room discussing battle strategy with his commanders.
Gk: Auri?
Au: We need to discuss my plan.
Gk: You have one? Excellent. Show me.
You and him loom over the war table. You first send a missive to Kaedwen requesting a meeting with their current leadership. Then request a confrence with Lyria.
Gk: What about Nilfgard? Radovid? Are you going to simply ignore them?
Au: No. But i need good footing before dancing do i not?
Gk:*nods*
Kaedwen sends word ambassadors are coming, same for Lyria. All while nilfgard builds force along the border.
You discuss changes to the military structure in the meantime you strengthen supply lines, borders, even supply smaller towns with incentives, but most importantly you bolster your ranks with mages. Soon the Kaedwen ambassadors arrive.
Ka1: You? You summoned us? What is your father doing that he himself can't talk to us hmm?
Au: He's dead. Like yours, no?
Ka1/2:*silence*
Ka3: Tell me what does Aedirn offer us?
Au: Protection. Radovid undoubtedly marches on you. He pushes on your borders, he'll squeeze you till you yield. Unless you join under me. I'll provide the means to protect you and your own. No more rivalry no more conflict between our nations. Unification only, sound fair?
Ka1/2/3:*look at eachother questionable* Deal!
Lyria went just the same. Creating Drinyria. When Radovid found himself at its door he was quickly shooed away and while the nilfgardians tried they could'nt disrupt much. The borders were secured. This went on for a couple months till Drinyria declared neutrality. It would take no side in the war and would be self seficient. But behind the scenes Auri was working on ways to secure peace for his new country and to find peace in himself
