The king remained clueless of the treachery the wedding planned held for him and his kingdom. But whilst Quinn planned for his heinous crime, Demonia planned for the revenge she would enact and when exactly that would be. Until then, she would act as though there were no problem, as though she were undeniably in love with Quinn.

The front she put on was incredibly realistic, sometimes she even fooled him. Quinn himself was convincing, the way he treated her around others, especially her father, had her wishing to know a love as passionate as the farce she would marry into. He was a passionate lover, that was without argument, but he had no love for her.

Tonight was the wedding dinner practice, the wedding being set for a few days later. Everyone was dressed in their finest, chatter and gossip filling the dining hall with joyous noise. The real dinner, with more guests, would undoubtedly be louder and cheerier than the one Demonia currently sat in. Across from her faux lover, she clenched her jaw and poked her fork at the food on her platter in a manner showcasing her lack of interest. Quinn cleared his throat, glaring at her until her back straightened and her slight smile, fake in every way, returned to grace her lips.

The former clearing of his throat had gained the attention of the people within the hall, all eyes on him as he stood up, looking unbothered, as though he'd intended it. "I'd like to make w toast, to my wife to be. She's the best thing in my life, and I am overcome with happiness to be the one to call her mine and marry her in due time." Cheers sounded, but quickly quieted when his hand came up to cue his continuation. "And for my future father in law. The king. You've shown me nothing but compassion, and care. Long life, king De León."

"King De León!" The company cheered in unison, raising their glasses as Quinn mirrored them.

Internally, Demonia scoffed. His speech was full of hidden meaning. Whilst he spoke, his eyes never left her own, a silent threat.

It infuriated her.

After the dinner, Demonia marched off full of rage, Quinn following behind. They reached her chambers, and Quinn closed the door behind himself.

"What is wrong with you!?" She whipped around, brows furrowed.

"Why nothing, my dear. Simply happy to marry the love of my life." The cocky smile on his face was painfully forced, making Demonia cringe.

"Oh drop the act, you prick."

The smile fell just as quickly as it had appeared, his hand coming up in a flash to make contact with her cheek, a loud smack of his flesh meeting her own echoing throughout the room. "Watch your mouth you ungrateful whore. You caused quite the scene at the end there. Some people may talk, after all, you heard them tonight."

"I can't control the words of smart fellows. It's your fault they can see through your lies." She glared daggers into him. The only thing holding her back from killing him on the spot was her lack of evidence, and a quiet voice telling her to calm herself and wait.

"You bitch."

"That's no way to treat your lover." She tilted her head mockingly.

At the speed of light, his hand caught her face again, this time he had dug his fingers into her cheek, his thumb doing the same on the other cheek. His grip was just as harsh as the first time he had done it, and his temper just as firey. His top lip twitched at the corner, and a vein became prominent in his forehead. He was a fool with a short nose; quick to anger, temper like a boiling pot of hot water.

"Need I remind you that this is a loveless marriage for my own gain?" He seethed. "You have no say in this, understand? You will be quiet and agreeable."

"Of course, fiancé." She swallowed the insults once more. A pretty face, lacking of distain was the mask she dawned in protection of whatever chance at serving justice she had left.

The love between them, as dead as she.
