finney was used to feeling stuffed up and nervous during school, and he had been for a while. at the current moment, his brain wasn't focusing, so it was for as long as he could remember.

for as long as he could remember, he felt that way.

that's because some assholes decided to target him, and that was where he would go.

there were two things he found odd about this. one was that he was the target- he was boring at school and never stood out, why him? and secondly, why didn't he ever go anywhere else?

he knew why- his brain stopped working and he went to the only place he could think to.

but right now there were no bullies. there was him, at school. the context was that he had an english test that he forgot about, he was caught off guard, he panicked and asked the teacher if he could go to the bathroom, and he ran there.

and now he was panicking. he was on the floor of the largest stall crying, holding himself and muffling the noise with biting his sleeve. he looked at his shoes and counted the laces over and over again about three times. then he cried some more, just from the whole situation, the gross floor, and the stress. then, he heard students outside and realized class was over. meaning lunch had started, meaning either he was about to get beat up, or...

"hey, finney! you in there?"

nope, he was about to get beaten up.

"we know you are, man.. just give us some money and we'll get."
for whatever reason, they recently started saying that, even though it wasn't like he ate lunch anyway, let alone brought money for it. they started to opened the stall doors until they got to his.

"hey there, finney. what's up?"

finney couldn't even open his mouth before another voice already did.

"not much, what about you?"

"...shit. robin?"

"in the flesh! now scram." they listened. they ran out of the bathroom, once more, before finn could open his mouth.

when he did open it however, no noises were made.

"it's okay, finn. i know." robin then sat down next to him. his presence made finn warm, and suddenly he released a breath he didn't realize he was holding. he focused on his breathing now, which he always tried not to do, because it made it harder to breathe for some reason, and it stressed him out.

this caused him to cry, again.

"hey, hey, ok, you're okay. they're gone, yeah? and i'm here, and you're here, and the day's almost over. you're so close, finn. focus on my voice, ok? you got it." finn noted how robin didn't mention english. then he scraped the thought, because he would redo the test later, and right now he needed to get off the floor, damnit.

"robin, can you help me up?" finney asked quietly. robin smiled.

"of course, finn. anything." robin helped him up and wrapped a hand around his shoulder before asking, "do you want me to buy you lunch?"

"not hungry. but i'll sit with you."

"that's fine, finney. just fine."

and they walked out together.
