a spark, in the envy green orbits of my father. his graying hair swept back, gently touched and lathered back. a princess was usually sent to be trained to be a lady, but my father expected more of me. he saw, deep down, that i could be a great warrior for the Solchita kingdom. the wind licked at the kingdom walls, lightly stroking through my hair. father hated loose and pretty dresses, so i was never fitted for one. i constantly recieved envious glares of other mistresses. you could see their words in their eyes, the look of judgement and constant gossip.

i knelt at the green carpet before my fathers throne chair, the rooms silence thickened as he shifted.
"i'm sending you away, Seline," he declared.
my hand and palm clenched the ball of my knee, pursing my lips. i knew where, but i couldnt speak. a frog lept up my throat, clogging the words down.
"you will be trained to become a great warrior for my kingdom. you will make my throne thrive," he spoke again.
"dad, have you not thought that having a daughter in battle could lower peoples respect for you? a battle is suited for man, not woman," i uttered, standing. i kept my gaze lowered, daring to look my father in the eye when returned words.
"wether royals and mistresses speak badly of our kingdom, i will have something to speak well about it," he grinned.
i nodded, keeping my orbs focused at my feet.

a wave of the kings hand dismissed me in moments. i had been sent to my chambers to pack for a long journey. i was to ride horseback alone to the peak of Isaclus Mountain, said that an elderly couple teaches the field of medicine and battle to the greatest warriors to ever set a boot in battle. to be taught the herbs and instruments, swords and spears. i was expected to know them all at my return in two years. i rolled a sheet and pillow and packed my clothes in two bags, to be hoisted over the haunches of a mule on my ride. my own horse was a magnificent look. a shiny, extra long mane with a dapple grey coat. he was tall, 18hh horse. only the special horses were given to the firstborn daughter of a king. he had the speed of an eagle, his hooves the sound of music against the earth.

and finally, i was set on my journey to Isaclus Mountain.
