[Celeste's POV]
There I was standing in front Arc de Triomphe, I was in Paris. Here I was surrounded by tons of tourists, local Parisians on their way to work, and then there was me, all alone in a city with no plans.
The sun was slowly rising as birds started to sing sweet melodies, I felt a warm smile forming on my face as I took in the atmosphere. A wave of deja vu hit me again. It was the feeling I had felt the first time I moved to London, The excitement I felt as I started sprinting to the apartment I had started renting, suitcase in my hand, the rays of sunshine on my face. The feeling I got as I entered my apartment, seeing the emptiness ready to be filled with furniture. Oh how I longed for that feeling, and now I had finally got a piece of that feeling.
As I sprung back to reality I decided to go find a hotel I could check myself into, and from there I could plan out my activities for the day. As I started to make my way to one of the hotels that had caught my eye on the list Haley had written for me I found myself walking through a park. It sat along a beautiful river, that seemed to flow along the perfectly placed out path, and along with that there were flowers growing everywhere. Luckily it was spring so there were flowers blooming around every corner.
As I made my way along the path closer to my destination taking in every inch of beauty Paris had to offer me I saw a bunch of flowers that caught me eye. Some nympheas quietly blooming right by the lake. Water lilies were just so perfect, they will always be my favourites.
[3rd person POV]
Celeste finally made it to the hotel she had decided to stay at. She booked herself a room for a the remainder of the trip and decided to go up to her room, somewhat unpack and plan out what she would do for the day.
After what seemed like ages of planning she decided to go to a local café, do some shopping, and from there she would take a guided tour around the Musée D'orsay. One of the things on her bucket list was to go to an art museum in Paris, and finally after years of waiting, thanks to Haley she would be crossing it off her list.
-
Celeste's day seemed to fly by and before she knew it, it was time for her tour around the Musée D'orsay. As she stepped towards the entrance a wave of butterflies hit her, she realised she would be seeing a ton of her favourite pieces of art in person. Yeah she did work in the National Gallery in London, but this was different. There would be pieces of art she had dreamed about seeing before only in her dreams.
When Celeste finally gathered herself together to step into the museum, she hurried over to pay for her tour ticket. The tour was supposed to start in around twenty minutes so she took out her phone to check if anyone had texted her.
She had seen that her mother had tried call her on several occasions again, probably in her drunken state to tell Celeste how terrible of a person she was for leaving her mother. Other than that she had a few notifications from her friends messaging her to have fun on her small holiday along with a message from one of her co-workers asking if she was feeling any better.
After answering a few massages and scrolling through instagram she looked at the time and saw there was only a few minutes before the tour started so she started to wander around trying to find anyone else who was taking the tour so she wouldn't be alone. After looking around for a minute or so she saw someone who somewhat looked like a tourist waiting for something, so she decided to approach the man to ask him if he was here for the tour.
The closer Celeste got to the man the more visible his features became.
The unknown figure was a blonde with quite a masculine face. He was wearing a plaid long sleeve shirt over a somewhat plain shirt paired with some high rise jet black jeans and a pair of white canvas sneakers. But the most predominate feature was his breath-taking dark eyes, they were so beautiful words couldn't even describe them.
The closer Celeste got to this mysterious man the more she seemed drawn to him. There was just something about him that made her feel thousands of butterflies in her stomach. This feeling was new to Celeste, she had never felt to nervous when approaching a somewhat handsome man or gorgeous woman, it was a feeling she wasn't sure if she liked or disliked. And even if she ever liked someone or had a crush on them, she never felt like this.
While Celeste was trying to find a logical answer to her thoughts, she hadn't noticed that she had walked up to the man. When she finally brought herself back to reality she found herself right in front of him, staring straight ahead.
"I'm sorry ma'am but are you okay?" Celeste heard an angelic voice ring through her ears.
God I think I'm going crazy.
"Oh, I'm sorry I really didn't mean to worry you ! I was just wondering if you were here for the guided tour? Sorry again !" She asked trying to not stumble over her own words.
The man just nodded his head to basically say 'yes'. Without fully thinking, she stuck her hand out and said,
"I'm Celeste, nice to meet you, and once again I'm sorry if I frightened you or something. I seem to have that effect on people."
The man gave Celeste a small grin as he also stuck his hand out to shake Celeste's hand.
"Celeste, what a unique name!"
"Yeah, it was a name my dad picked out, it supposedly means heavenly or something ! Also I didn't catch your name?"
"Oh yeah ! I'm Evan, not very interesting compared to yours. " Evan answered chuckling near the end of his sentence.
The pair stood there for a moment just staring at each other admiring each others beauty. If Celeste was able to paint, she would paint this moment out a million times, and she'd never get bored of looking at it.
-
Suddenly they both came back to reality when they heard what they assumed the tour guide say something. The two suddenly apologised quietly and sprinted over to where a huge group of people were.
-
As the tour went on, Evan and Celeste shared a few comments to each other about certain pieces of art. After a while of listening to the tour guide talk about the art and its artists they fund themselves going into the room with Celeste's favourite artist.
Van Gogh
As soon as she walked in there, her eyes lit up. Celeste knew almost everything about Vincent, she had always love his work. She related to Van Gogh on many levels, knowing that the man had never had anyone except his brother, nobody liked his art, and he was seen as crazy by everyone around him.
The tour guide then gave the visitors a few minutes to look around at each piece. Celeste found herself drawn to one of her favourite art pieces, The Starry Night Over the Rhone.
While Celeste was busy studying every single brushstroke, Evan walked up beside her,
"I never fully understood why people loved Van Gogh so much, but after seeing some of his work, I definitely understand a bit more."
Celeste then look at him a smiled.
-
Evan and Celeste stood there side by side admiring the art in front of them as the world around them froze. Unknown to them at the moment this would be the start of one hell of a story.
