This is my identity, stated clearly on my identification tags, if anyone needs to know. I don't have to bother trying to make them understand me or struggle to communicate. People read it, and send me on my way through the endless halls along with hundreds of other girls no different from me wearing their own tags and neatly pressed Aegean blue uniforms, blatantly ignoring each other as they walk to their rooms.

Sometimes I like to pretend I have a voice, I know exactly what it would sound like too, it would have a soft but almost deep tone, and I would sing all the time. Whenever I listen to people talk I feel like I should respond the same way, it's like an itch in my throat. I guess I've learned to live with it though, to the point where I barely even notice it anymore actually, unless I'm listening to someone sing.

Pretty much my whole life has reminded me that a part of me is missing. People feel sorry for me and worry about my future. My parents are rich and have very high standards, so because I am mute I only have to work harder.

When I was at home they would always tell me how important it was to them for me to succeed in life, they both worked hard to get to where they are now and they expect the same from each and every one of their children, they knew it would be harder for me though but there is still no extent they won't go to give me the best education I can get, and that is why I am now here, in a huge silent building, walking in these huge, crowded, yet silent halls, counting down the days till I am free.
