Throughout my childhood my eyes have been black. Dark enough that when the power goes out, it doesn't matter. I'm Serine. And I am blind. Many people made fun of me when I entered Kindergarten the first day. I got pushed, and kicked around. I remember being pushed down and afraid that when going down I would hit a table and pass out. When I heard laughing around my eardrums I would start to cry. I could however, feel whenever someone was pointing at me. It kinda felt like I had a power. Sensing when someone was pointing, however at the same time I felt embarrassment. When your blind, you can't see anything of course, but I had a dream. To not be like my parents. My father was a alcoholic. He was gone most of my childhood, off to bars, or having an affair. I always knew when my dad came home. The noise of laughter outside of my father and a woman, and of the slammed bedroom door, that was my mom. My mother was always afraid of my father, he used to beat her for no reason after he came home from the bar. I usually run in my room and start doing my homework, sometimes my dad hit me too. My mom did bad things as well. She did drugs. Not all the drugs out there but, most of them. It was a terrible childhood for me, but I got through it from one person. Her name was Kayla. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. Five days per week, I would walk home with Kayla and we would hang out. Kayla was my only escape. Escape from this god-forsaken place.
