As the princess regained consciousness, she felt the familiar softness of the sheets surrounding her. As she forced her weary eyes open, she was confused to find herself tucked into her own bed. Not the futon she'd been sleeping on for the past week, but her actual bed, in her quarters, in the castle. As she sat up, her head spun, and it took her a moment for the disorientation to pass. Once it had, she saw that her room had been repaired, and that she wasn't alone, and that there were two guards stationed at her doorway. They were evidently Taehyung's men, and slowly but surely the memory of Jimin attempting to drag her out of the water and the ambush came back to her. Quickly, she looked down to see that she was clothed in a high-quality silk gown that was her own, but the feeling of dread that overcame her made her feel nauseous.
A million worries flittered through her mind, and a panic built inside her. What had happened to Jimin? And Jungkook and Jin? Were they alright? Why had Taehyung brought her back here, and not killed her? It's not like he had any use for her now. She was only a threat, seeing as she was the last living heir to the crown... What did he plan to do with her if not to have her killed?
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and then it creaked open, and the princess' heart dropped at the sight of Taehyung striding into her bedroom. That hefty gaze she knew all too well settled on her from across the room. As he approached and took a seat at her bedside she felt paralyzed with uncertainty. Taehyung had always been so unpredictable that she never truly knew what to expect.
"Miyu, are you alright?" Taehyung frowned as his eyes looked over her worriedly, and at this the princess had to fight the overwhelming urge to hit him. "Alright? Are you kidding me? No, I'm not alright Taehyung, I'm so far from alright. How could you even ask that right now? What happened to Jimin? Is he alright?" Miyu burst out into heated ramblings and Taehyung merely gave a sigh. "On second thoughts, you seem more like yourself than ever. And don't worry, Jimin is fine. I'm just so relieved that you're back safe and sound."
"Taehyung," Miyu murmured, her heart skipping a beat. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. He'd slaughtered her father in cold blood. She was sure there wasn't an ounce of humanity left in him. "Pretending you care won't change anything. You can drop the pretense. It's not fooling anyone."
Taehyung's gaze leveled with hers, and her innate curiosity was running wild. Not knowing what he was ever truly thinking left her at a loss. "I know this will not be an easy adjustment, and I know you might never forgive me for betraying you. But," the intensity surrounding him seemed to creep over her skin, and it's like she couldn't look away from him. "You're the most precious to me, and I won't let you forget that for the rest of your life."
Miyu was left stunned by his words. Before she could gather herself, Taehyung had stood and strode back to the door. However, he stopped and gave her one more glance before he left. "Miyu, my darling. Try to get some rest. We'll talk more later tonight." And with those last words, the door closed behind him.
He'd left her in a whirlwind of confusion, and as she sat there, sheets huddled around her body to soothe herself, she just couldn't understand what he stood to gain by saying things like that. The only thing it did was rip at her already torn heart. Regardless of his motives, she couldn't believe anything that came out of his mouth, not after what he'd done.
As the day passed, the princess had been confined to her room and wasn't allowed out. So, she did the best she could to try to calm her troubled mind, if only to give her some relief so that she could think more clearly and attempt to come up with some sort of plan to escape. She was concerned about Jimin, and all she wanted to do was escape this hell and return to the safety and comfort of his arms. She didn't want to stick around long enough to learn about Taehyung's true motives or plans for her, even though she didn't know what they were. The uneasiness in her stomach indicated that it wasn't anything pleasant.
