The Runnway

Bare chest to bare chest, they are holding each other closely under the covers. Kissing tenderly and letting their hands wander.  

"Oh Cody.... I can't bare to leave you." she whispered softly into his ear.

Sweeping the stray hairs from her face, he replies,  " why do you have to? We can run away together and start a new life?" he said happily." We both are 18. We are able to make decisions without our parents approval.... I love you so much. I can't let you leave my life."

"I love you too." Emma said sweetly.

Knock! Knock! Knock! " Emma are you in there? We need to talk."

"Oh shit! That's my mum, quick get under my bed!" Emma screamed whispered to him as she was struggling putting a t- shirt on.

"Sweaty are you even in there?" She said as she cautiously opened Emma's bedroom door. "There you are. Look, Emma, I know it's been hard for you. You have to leave your friends behind and start over in a new town an a new school. But trust me this the right thing to do. I, we, need this job. You understand, don't you?" she said in a try to believe me tone.

"Mum, it's halfway into my senior year! I'm not moving with you to California! You can though, but I'll be staying here in Londonderry with my friends. I could probably stay with Cody. His parents are looking for a new tenant and I could pay them rent every month."

"Darling, you are not going to live with Cody and his family. It's your last year and you're spending it with me!"

"Mum!" screaming desperately.  

"No!" Then she slapped Emma across the face. "That's final!" Then she angrily stormed out slamming the door behind her. While leaving Emma to cry on her bed from the pain and disappointment. Cody quickly slipped out from under her bed. He wrapped his arms around her and gently rocked her back and fourth.

"It's ok. It's ok. Everything will be ok," he softly whispering in her ear, making sure her mum won't hear him. Then he gently moved her face toward to examine her face. Then he tenderly kissed her bruise, under her left eye.

"Cody?" she said in a sniffly voice, " can you tell me more about your plan for us together?"

"Of course I can.............."
