Four Years Ago; They are both 14; Prom Night

Demi sighed, fumbling with the hem of her dress as she scanned her eyes around the room, sadly watching the dancing couples laughing and joking with one another, no other cares in the world, just the two of them, together, united in one moment of time, bliss. “Whereas me, I’m stuck all alone by myself, like a sad old woman, once again” Demi mumbled softly to herself, heaving yet another heavy, chest racking sigh, flipping her hair out of her eyes, checking her phone to see what time it was, hoping intensely that the end of the night was imminent, sadly it wasn't, there was still at the very least an hour to go,

“Dammit, dammit it all to bloody hell” Demi snapped underneath her breath.

“Damn what all to bloody hell?” A deep familiar voice asked, as their shadow hung over Demi as she sat,

“Hey Jus, nothing, just nothing alright?” Demi replied puffing out a big ball of air as she looked up at her best friend who looked amazing, his reddy brown wavy hair fanning out in all manner of directions, yet still even in it's dishevelled state it still happened to look perfect, along with his shirt collar sticking up, and his tie lopsided he was the imperfect, most perfect boy, the most perfect boy in the room actually, especially to Demi, who loved him secretly with all of her heart, and had done for a while now, however she knew that she had absolutely no chance with him, as not only was he one of the most popular boys in the entire school, but he was also liked by most if not all of the female population of the school.

“Dems, this is me you're talking to, now come on what's up?” He questioned smiling as he sat down next to his best friend,

“I'm just feeling a little bit lonely, y'know?” She smiled sadly, shrugging her shoulders as she looked over at Justin who listened intently, as he always did,

“Hey, hey hey, whys that now? You've got me after all, and if I don't say so myself, I am amazing company” Justin winked as he playfully nudged Demi, in an attempt to make her smile once more“Shut up you!” Demi laughed softly, feeling happy for the first time in the whole night

“See! I told you so!” Justin laughed along with her as he placed his arm around her, hugging her close, comforting her as she always did when she needed it “Now c'mon tell me what's really up” Justin said once more trying to tease it out of her

“It's just depressing watching all of the couples dancing together, and y'know just having fun, and me, I’m just sat here all by myself” Demi said an unhappy tone tainting her every word

“Well, we can sort that out right away!” Justin grinned jumping up as he held out his hand for her to take

“Err Jus” Demi chewed on her lip nervously, contemplating what she should do next, “I, I don't know” She uttered avoiding his gaze

“I won't take no for an answer Missy!” Justin exclaimed as he grabbed Demi's hand leading her onto the dance floor, practically dragging her in all honesty,

“Justin!” Demi squealed as she stumbled in her tall heels, falling into Justin's arms

“Hey steady there!” He winked knowing full well he was the reason for her tripping over her shoes “Now c'mon, lets give this a shot, one dance before the end of the night?” Justin asked giving Demi his best smile,

“Ugh fine, I guess we can try one dance, but just one though” Demi smiled as she relaxed into the dance,

“See it isn't that bad baby girl” Justin smiled using his nickname for her that he used every once in a while
