ch.14

Karmin's POV.

a new born baby sister? where is my mother?

"it is, our, child" the strange woman said placing her hand on top of my father's.

"Louis, i know that Karmin knows, but you probably do not. this is not your mother" my dad said gesturing to the woman beside him.

"your mother. she is not like she was. she has changed." he continued. "gone against the agency."

Louis sat there. i couldnt tell if he was in awe or shock, but he was definately confused.

"i am confused. mum, against the agency? what has happened to her?" i asked bewildered.

"after we had to leave you girls that awful night, your mum was never the same." he said shakily then continued "she was alright for almost a year. depressed but other than that mentally okay. then she lost it." he said looking away then at Louis and finally connecting with my eyes again.

"she was uncontrollable, she would wake up screaming in the night with nightmears. i tried to comfort her but she slipped into total darkness."

"she began saying awful things about the agency. How they teared our family apart once and if that wasnt bad enugh then they had to do it again. we both knew we would never start another family and were sad about losing ours but she went on a total rampage."

"was mum akways like this?" Louis asked. "i mean did she handle it this way when, we, were seperated from eachother?"

"no." my father replied plainly. "no she didnt. i mean she went into depression at first but when we talked about starting over. a new family. she began to recover. unlike this time"

he resumed with his story " when your mum started talking like this she started devoloping, well, unusual habbits. she started biting her nails which she always thought an awful habbit before. she would often pace the bedroom before settling for a sleep. she would always be paranoyed wherever we went out she would have her guard up. she would even have quiet conversations with herself." it worried me."

i was taking it all in.

this was not the loving, cheerful, understanding, put together mum i remembered. she always tried so hard. i cant even imagine her losing her cool. this is so unreal to me.

"then one night, your mother just up and left me." he said looking down at the table.

"i woke up, her stuff wasnt there, and neither was she." he said plainly.

"about a year later i met this woman sitting next to me, Mellie." he said looking at her with a smile.

"i thought this could be a new beginning for me. to forget about my awful past and start over a new life. it seemed like the most logical thing for me to do unless i wanted to lose it as your mother did."

"things were great. we got married. soon had a beautiful baby girl. her name is Aqua because of her blue eyes." he said proudly.

"then we got a call then another, and another. they were from your mother. they were both threats and invitations. she wanted me to join her in a rebellion to seek revenge on the agency. of course i wasnt going to. i had a new life and i had no intention of seekeing revenge on the life i was attemting to forget."

"then your mum told me that she knew where i was, who my child was, who my new wife was. and i feared for my new family. she told me that if i didnt join her, she would ruin my new life. i didnt know what to do."

he looked like what he was about to say was going to be hard.

"she took her." a tear escaped his eye and the mellie was silently crying too.
