Chapter 28: Disciplinary Butterfly

Briefly, after defeating the Raiden Shogun and the Fatui Harbinger: La Signora, Adam is then contacted by The Head of the Kamisato Clan, Ayato who tells him that a "Lesser God" is about to emerge and he needs his help.

Upon arriving in the Kamisato state, Adam had to separate from the Traveler and Paimon since he decided to take the job, but not before looking for letters from Ayato.

Adam arrived at the destination on Mondstadt, he met up with Diluc on Angel's Share in exchange for information. After bantering a little bit, Adam asked if Diluc knows about this contract. Diluc calmly states that he knows but "She" works for the Favonius Cathedral.

Adam stated that they need to find her. However, Diluc stopped Adam and informed that she is someone who shouldn't be messed with.

Discarded all the warnings, Adam and Diluc went up to meet Aponia a nun, that serves under the Favonius Cathedral, Adam conversates with Aponia on the situation concerning this mission. As a result, he is forced to accept the mission.

Dragonspine, historically known as Vindagnyr, is an Area located in Mondstadt.

It is a vast mountain, engulfed with ancient ruins and snow-capped areas, and also containing the remains of Durin. It was named Vindagnyr prior to Durin's fall.

There are some peculiarities with how the snow gathers but never melts on the mountain. Due to its extreme cold, Dragonspine is also one of the most dangerous places in Mondstadt.

Adam comments on how he prefers not to protect a women of "clothed". Aponia then elaborates that she isn't a normal "Nun".

The Favonius Cathedral then tasks Adam to escort Aponia while she is guiding him on this mission. Adam then refuses to accept the mission & comments that he'll do this alone.

Ironically, the power of "Discipline" is one of control. It only works on people, though.

Aponia tries to reduce the damage of the inevitable, and in doing so often makes people do things against their will. However, this power isn't as simple as mind control. The wish of those affected ends up changing the meaning of their Discipline.

As a result, he is forced to accept the mission. Bringing her along as well.

Adam & Aponia then engage in conversation, talking about his "Exploits". As Aponia converses with Adam, he then has a vision of an abyss mage telling him he will kill the nun, he pulls out a gun and shoots the abyssal creature.

Aponia is shocked at the sudden death, preparing to question the Mercenary. However, Adam then reveals that when they passed by a tunnel, there was an agent of the Abyss Order present that no one was able to see.
