A few days had passed. The only thing I had been doing was grading papers and looking after children. I wasn't complaining, I mean that is my job. But as days go on I always seem to feel like I am missing out on things. I don't have a family, or many friends and I don't even go out for that matter. So a question also arises at the thought. How on earth do you dance? I am after all going to a ball and have not a single rhythmic bone in my body. I will surely make a fool out of myself.

A knock on the door brought me out of my thoughts. "Come in" I say, trying to calm my nerves. To my surprise it was Sherlock who stepped into the room. "Hello Emily" he says with a slight smirk. "Get to the point. Why are you here" I say with a sigh. Im not in the mood to be talking to him right now. " I just need to ask some more question" I gave him an unimpressed look "Seriously? More questions? Look I've already told you everything I kn..." I was cut off by him. "It isn't about the robbery Emily" we both stared at each other for a moment before he spoke up again. "I just came to ask what you will be wearing to the ball, it is only fitting that to play it off I need to match your colours" he stated as if it was the most obvious thing. "I don't have a dress yet nor have I had time to ask about one" Gods this man really thinks I have it all worked out already? The date has on just been set a few days ago. "Ask for one? Whatever do you mean by that?" He had a confused look resting upon his face. "Sherlock, I run a school that charges very little do you really think I have the money to go buy fancy dresses that ill only ever wear once?" I mean if I were to buy a dress it would be cheap and more practical for everyday use, not a ball grown. "Hmm perhaps I could help with that" now it was my turn to have a confused look. He must have seen it as her began speaking again.

"I'm saying I will buy you a dress Emily" again saying as if it was the most obvious thing. "And enlighten me, how would you know what to look for let alone my size?" He gave a light chuckle before talking again. "I will accompany you to try on dresses surly it won't be that difficult" now I did not let out a light chuckle as he did, no. I threw my head back and laughed loudly. "You really think it will be easy accompanying me to try on dresses? Oh now I know you have never been shoping with a lady. Tell me how long do you think ill take? Hmm?" It was hard to recompose myself after he said that. "Sherlock surly you are not the naive. It will take me at least an hour. You could show up in praticle nothing and nobody would blink an eye but as for me? Women need to dress there best or they are nothing but a disappointment. That is how the world works when it is revolved around men"

Again silence took over and we were left just looking at each other. Now I must admit, Sherlock is an attractive guy, but saying such things would only boost his ego more. That was something I most definitely did not want to do. "Hmm I guess we should get going then if it will take as long as you say" His response had me shocked. He didn't care it would take awhile, he was still offering to come. Without saying a word I stood from my seat and began walking to the door. I realized he hadn't moved yet, only watched me move through the room. " well are you coming or what?" He smirked at my comment and began walking towards the door. He knew he had won me over and that is something that I will get him back for, as I said, his ego is huge.

As we entered the streets he offered me his arm. I just stared at it confused as to why. " Emily just take my arm its not that confusing" I scoffed but took his arm non the less. We walked like that in silence until he has turned into a shop. A rather expensive shop may I add. Entering it, I looked around to mounds of dresses hung up. The shop was clean and smelled like lavender. "Very posh place" Sherlock turned his head to look at me. " only the best for you" he said with yet again, another smirk. Was he flirting with me? I patted his arm before stating to walk away, but not without replying to his comment. " you need lesson on how to woo a lady "

After as I predicted, an hour of looking around and trying dresses on did I finally find one to my liking. It was a ruby coloured dress that had beautiful patterns on it. It flowed out at the hips and had a built in courset to match. I looked into the mirror I I actually saw something I liked, something that I thought I looked beautiful in. Walking out of the changing room Sherlock immediately stood up. "You look beautiful" he just stared at me, almost in awe? I'm not sure what that look was to be honest. I just smiled and returned a polite thank you. We payed for the dress and left the shop, arm in arm again and walking in silence. Every so often I thought I could feel him turning to look at me but that would be ridiculous.

He escorted me back to the school which my apartment was above. I stopped abruptly. "There is one more problem though" nothing my concerned face he fully turned to me as if asking me to go on. "I don't know how to dance"
