No matter how hard I tired, I would never be able to just fall alseep. Instead I stayed awake, kept guard, bs wondered close to camp until sleep took me over.
I slept as little as possible, but enough to keep going.

But tonight, sleep was my enemy and wasn't going to come easy.
So I grabbed my gun, with only six rounds left, and a knife I was given during the first months of this ending

Of course, the enemy didn't need to know I had only six rounds left. They needed to know I could take them, with one round or fifty.

I needed to clear my head and the smoke wasn't helping.
Id only go a few yards, enough to still see the dying flame, but far enough to be alone.

The breeze was cold and sent chills down my back. but as I set deeper into the woods I could no longer see the dying flame. but I had done it for a reason.

The snapping of branches and earth floor wasn't only coming from me, but another's footsteps.
My careless walk turned into a sprint, and so did the mystery person also.

I needed to get as far away from Ana as possible so I ventured more and farther away.

I could here I getting faster. They were catching up. and fast.

I made a sharp turn and leaned on a tree, regaining my breath and preparing myself for what was to come.

The foot steps came closer and slowed down. They knew I had stopped.

With one more close bone shattering crunch of a twig I moved quickly and slammed the unknown person against the tree with a knife to their neck.
I had caught them by surprise but not enough. with a knife to their neck, there was a knife to mine.

"Easy where you place that knife. you might cut someone" the voice said and I knew it was a man. but his strong frame also gave a few hints. That also meant if he really tried , I would be an easy victim.

"Who the hell are you? Why were you following me?" I growl digging the knife deeper into his skin, any move and it would pierce the skin.

From what I could tell by moonlight, he had dark short hair and was considerably strong.

"You seem to forget, I have a knife on your neck as well." he smiles amused.

"I'm not going to ask agian. who the hell are you as why are you following me?" I ask agian, holding my arm against his body and my other arm holding the knife.

"Your the first person I've seen in a year. I got curious." he says.

"Like I'm supposed to believe that? If you've survived this long then you know that. Curiosity will get you killed." I say back.
I didn't know whether to kill him or let the knife go.

"Why so tense? Relax, I'm not going t hurt you, or you buddy back at your little camp" he laughs lowering his knife.

"How long where you watching us?"

"Enough to know your not dangerous. not to me"

"Why not to you?" I question

"Because you need me"
