Wait, what?

"Hyunjin loves Felix!" Seungmin suddenly said with so much enthusiasm it was endearing.

Hyunjin laughed so hard because it was Seungmin saying it. The irony. His laughter was a punch stolen out of him, not genuine like other laughs which usually followed Seungmin's words. It was more disbelieving than anything.

Don't get him wrong. He loved Felix. Felix was his brother like many of the others - a luxury that as an only child he never thought he'd have and so was super grateful for most times. They cuddled often and showed affection frequently to each other because they were very similar. They both missed their families even though Hyunjin's was very near but that didn't always mean anything when they were so busy and had a lack of privacy and short visits just made him miss them more.

Felix and him both loved their appearance and often discussed fashion and dressed up along with Jeongin. They both happened to have similar thoughts about clothes being genderless and make-up being fun but also loving sporty clothing. In that similarity laid the problem. Hyunjin wanted something, someone different.

Someone that would stimulate him and make him better (not that Felix didn't do that but he made him better due to his softness not his challenge). Hyunjin thrived on being challenged. He wanted to show someone just how wrong they were about him and in flooring them, he felt validated. He wanted someone that would politely argue with him and make him see a whole new world. He wanted Seungmin.

Seungmin often said and did things unexpectedly but him saying he loved Felix on Cosmopolitan was the most unexpected thing ever. His laughter was an automatic reaction but deep inside he hoped that Seungmin was saying that to deviate attention from his actual crush...surely. Surely Seungmin knew of his feelings, right? Hyunjin was a really bad liar and his feelings were often splayed out on his face and in his actions. Everyone could see them which is why he was often advised to at least try to act for interviews, just enough to maintain his privacy and secrets but surely, surely Seungmin who was so smart and close to him knew. Right?

After the interview, he approached his best friend.

"Seungminnie?" Hyunjin calls out softly to the other. For all he can be loud, he is also super shy. Sometimes he's shy for how loud he is which is frustrating. Right now, he's definitely a shy boy.

"Yes Hyune?"

Hyune! He loved the others calling him that – he had started calling himself that in hopes of the others picking that name up and they did! He loved when Seungmin called him that best, obviously. He liked Jinnie too though and Hyunjinnie. Basically anything cutesy, he loved.

"Did you say that for fanservice? So people ship us more and we're more...well marketable?" he asked. That and the privacy explanation were the most plausible. As much as he and the others loathed it, their career depended on them being appealing and making more money for the company so it would eventually trickle down to them and open new pathways for future endeavours.

"What did I say?" Seungmin frowned. He was so cute! Usually Seungmin who was an extrovert, good at speaking and languages and had a captivating personality that didn't mind (in fact he thrived on) being a little shit, spoke a lot during interviews. He was a natural at both MC-ing and answering questions although it wouldn't be completely fair to say that because like Hyunjin, Seungmin practiced a lot of things needed in their work for incessant hours. In fact, they had originally bonded on that and they connected even further when Seungmin just understood that he needed someone there in silence while he bawled his eyes out. At least, that's when Hyunjin connected deeper with the other.
