The next day you woke up, immediately jumping out of bed. You took the time to carefully adjust your mask and uniform, making sure even your grucifix necklace was set on perfectly. With your new assignment, you didn't want to be any less than perfect. Now all you needed was a ghoulette mask. Still, there were none left, leaving you with an old spare ghoul mask that was a tad bit rusty in some parts. You made sure your hair was combed just carefully enough that it wasn't quite visible with the mask on. Then, you finally set out for the Cardinal's office. You knocked on the door lightly, your black ghoul claws making a quiet scraping sound against the old wooden door. He opened it, and seemed surprised and happy to see you. "I have so much paperwork today, I don't want to burden you with anything, but I need assistance." Copia said. "I'm up for the task." You responded loyally. You were half ghoul after all, and you did consider yourself a ghoul. Ghouls were basically made to work. You sat down on the opposite side of his desk and began to help him sort through the stacks of papers on his desk. You helped write, but mostly just sorted them into more piles. The Cardinal seemed happy to have the help, and in the middle of working, began to start a conversation. "So.. half ghoul..?" He said in a confused tone. "My mother was a human and my father was a ghoul. Aether is my half brother." You sighed after giving the usual response. "Interesting." He said. "Did you hear about the church dance next week?" He said, trying to make small talk. "Yeah." You responded. You continued to make some small talk throughout working. Although you barely knew him, the Cardinal's presence was somehow comforting. Eventually, you had both finished your share of paperwork. Then, he asked a bit of an odd question. "Are you going to go to the dance?" He asked. "I'm not sure.." you said, a bit confused. He sighed and nodded, gesturing for you to leave. You left the room quietly. You walked back to your room, not sure what else to do. You took off your mask and your hair floofed out. You went to your small bathroom and began trying to clean the rust off the old mask, to no avail. It had belonged to some ghoul who didn't take good care of it. He had gotten banished and his mask went in a storage closet, eventually becoming yours after all the nice masks were given to the "real" ghouls and ghoulettes. It always made you sad when people referred to other ghouls as "real" , implying you were not a ghoulette. This thought brought up various childhood memories of the sisters of sin and Sister Imperator. You remembered the time a Sister had gradually become more uncomfortable with a half ghoul being in her class for young ghouls, until the day she finally snapped and yelled "GET OUT! YOU AREN'T A GHOUL OR A HUMAN! YOU'RE A MONSTER!". You had run out of the classroom crying. You were only 9 at the time. Now, being 28 it was clear that what that Sister had done had always left a mark. You sighed, setting your mask on your desk and sitting down on your bed. You reached over and grabbed your book on the stars from off the shelf. You began to look through it. You had been named Constellation because of your interest in stars, and because since you were only half ghoul you didn't have a certain element to be named after.
