All characters and events are based off of real people and real events in the real world. The names of the people and places have been changed for privacy reasons. Things have been added for the sake of the story, but nothing has been added that will change the outcome of the story, making it different from what happened in reality.

Chapter 3~ Risk Taking
"Once you had put the pieces back together, even though you may look intact, you were never quite the same as you'd been before the fall."
― Jodi Picoult
I woke up the next morning to sun streaming through my red and white striped curtains. It was supposed to be a beautiful day and I was super excited because Bailey promised she would come pick me up for the day.
We had no idea what we were going to do, much like it always was, but we didn't care. We were the kind of best friends that could sit for hours without talking and not be bored- granted we were probably texting other people, but that's beside the point. Yeah, we were awesome like that- it made my imaginary friends jealous.
I shoved back my billions of fluffy blankets and leaned over my bed to retrieve my phone from where it had fallen on the floor. It was one of those moments where you're too lazy to actually get out of bed, but the position you find yourself in is so awkward you end up falling out anyway.
I landed on the floor with a dull thump, right on top of my phone. I pulled it out from under me, whispering an apology like it could hear me. That's what happens when you name something- you start thinking it's a living thing. Either that or I was just so deprived of friends that I decided to turn my phone into one. In this case, my phone's name was Squishy. A guy at church named it for me, due to its small size and how it reminded him of the jellyfish from Nemo. Don't ask me how he came to that conclusion because my phone was neither pink nor did it have stingers hanging off of it. It was a black, white, and a square Windows Kin.
I opened the phone to check the time, only to find a text on the main screen instead.
I was fascinated by the green color to which I had them set to, but only for a moment.
Cody: Ha! Night... Airy... lol
Received at 10:30 pm
Airy. His use of my nickname made me laugh. It was one thing coming from Bailey, but an entirely different thing coming from Cody. Somehow I felt like he was picking on me. It was just one of those unnerving feelings you get.
The day passed in a blur, as did the day after. I spent most of my time with Bailey, and what time I wasn't with her, I was on the Sims or Wattpad. Yes, what an exciting life I lead! Sims and Wattpad, my two very close friends.
It was the afternoon three days after I met Cody; Bailey was spending the night and we were trying to figure out what on earth we could do. She was sitting next to me on my bed, chattering away about Vaughan- as she would say, 'her extremely hot and wonderful boyfriend'. It took all I had to sit there and listen. In the end, I kind of zoned out. It wasn't that I wasn't interested in what she had to say. No, far from it. I found her shenanigans rather humorous. It was just that... it made me jealous. The last thing I wanted was to be jealous of my best friend.
