Before spring break
Robin stacked the various video tapes on the metal shelves, listening to Steve go on about how much of a mess his love life was, earning a scoff or two from Robin. "You do know yours isn't as bad as mine, right?" Robin smiled a bit, she could basically see Steve rolling his eyes. "Yes, I know, but.." He continued, as Robin listened while not paying very much attention.
She rolled the cart to the next aisle, only to find out she was actually out of videos to stock. Robin rolled it to the back of the store, joining Steve at the counter, just as he finished his speech. "So, how's it going with...?" At least Steve had an ounce of respect not to mention Vickie's name, even though nobody was even there to hear.
"Fine, I guess," Robin had absolutely no idea, to be honest she and Vickie hardly ever talked.
"Uh, huh." Steve obviously wasn't going to believe that, although he wasn't the brightest bulb in the bunch. "To be honest I have no idea. I mean I still like her, but I get to nervous to actually talk to her and.."Robin couldn't finish her statement, as the bell above the door chimed as someone walked in. The girl with short ginger hair, Vickie. "I'm going to check in the back!" Steve announced loudly, Robin stepping on his foot as he gave her a smile that just screamed "you're welcome."
Vickie rushed up to the counter, putting the Fast Times tape in front of Robin. "Hey! I'd just like to return this," Vickie said hurriedly, as Robin nodded and put the information into the system. "I uh, I didn't know you worked here," Vickie piped up after a moment, and Robin turned slightly towards her. "Oh um, I actually used to work at the mall before... Um my parents decided it was a good opportunity for me to 'be an adult,' so I guess I'm here now," Robin gave Vickie an awkward smile, as she turned to walk away.
"Well, see you in band tomorrow?" Robin nodded and waved as Vickie walked away, then put her head down on the counter when she was out of eyesight. She could hear Steve clapping, as he walked back to her. "That went good-" Robin shook her head as Steve said that. "Could you even hear any of that?"
Steve shook his head, an apologetic smile on his face as Robin groaned.
