There were many thing that the human race tried to achieve. While most were successful others had gone horribly wrong.

Humans had started to die out, go extinct if you prefer that term. The population of the world had began to rapidly decline and there was no way to stop it, at least that's what they thought. Scientists hired by the world government were tasked with helping the world survive to see the next hundred years. They worked through day and night spending weeks experimenting on different ways to create infinite life. If only they hadn't found a way.

The Scientists had found a way to stop aging completely and have humans never die, they called it .... the rejuvenation. They had created a implant to make cells in someones body rapidly regenerate as if they were never really deteriorating in the first place. This implant was tested on a few humans and seemed to work, I was one of the test subjects. It was working. The people in the labs were getting better and were becoming healthier with each day, my leg had healed because of the implant. I was grateful.

This "cure" having shown immense success got massively produced and shipped around the world, given to every living human no matter their age and for a few months everything was going well. But everything needs to stop at some point. Right? Due to the rapid reproduction of people's cells they had started dying. Their body had started rejecting the reproduction of cells and their organs had started to break down and fail. It was just like it was months ago except there was anarchy, people protesting that the government had promised this would keep them safe. It started with 15 dead every day, then that number increased to 40 then again to 70 until eventually people were dying so fast there wasn't time to do anything about it. After 3 years the world population has dropped to one, that one left is me, the only one not killed by the implant, my body does not get damaged or grow old however I do still have the basic needs of a regular person. Not like they will kill me though.

It has been many years since I have heard a voice that isn't my own and there is no way that will change anytime soon. The planet has overgrown and animals have started to roam cities looking for food, makes it easy to catch them. I write in this journal to try and keep myself sane however I still feel my memory slipping away with every passing year. I sometimes hear things walking through the forest of buildings that I call home but I pay it no mind. It is just the animals. Right?
