Thirty Days-one month. The blood has turned the water red. The last of the bubbles surfaced and popped. Like the now blood stained bowl was starting to boil.
My stomach sunk, my expression with it. The excitement I once felt was sucked away. Instead pure and utterly dread had crawled its way around my heart. My eyes blurred as the bubbles kept popping.
Everything felt sluggish, everything except those damned bubbles. The water bounced as if something have dropped inside. I looked at Professor Kaine, he just as sullen as I did.
There were only thirty more days until it happened. Only thirty days until death would pick its target. Thirty more days until death would reach through the Earth and rip away life right from underneath me.
"FiFi I'm so sorry, we've never had time this short before."
It was customary to come go the ceremony on death day. To find out when you were going to die.
The shortest ever recorded was one year. Thirty days was unheard of.
I looked down at my son. Those eyes so filled with precious life. Only had thirty days left.
