Prologue

Life was insane.

Of course it was a whole lot more than just that. It was a whole lot of everything all at once. Happiness, sadness, anger, love, hope, fear, life and loss.

Sometimes, it was all too much for one person to handle, sometimes life got a little too overwhelming.

Taru considered herself lucky, in that regard, that she had a place to go to, and escape from the mundane of every day life. A place that was probably more hectic and crazier than she'd ever experienced beforehand.

She had her skateboard.

She had her S.

She had her S family.

And nothing was going to take that away from her. No matter how many times she bailed, no matter how many boards and bones she broke, no matter if S was shut down, she'd still find away to be with them.

She thanked her brother everyday she got on her board, for giving in and teaching her how to shake. And even when he'd eventually given up on the hobby, it made him happy to see her happy. Even giving her his old board once he moved away from Okinawa.

It was mounted on her wall, right next to her own.

Life is crazy, but crazy good.

Taru just didn't expect it to end in flower petals, scattered across her pillow.
